Square-Enix Final Fantasy XIII-2?

these are nice screenshots. So I've been wondering, why do they have some shots with Serah as the playable character, and other times it's Noel? Can you choose who you're controlling, or is it something else?
And I just noticed that was a clock in the moogles hand. Does it have something to do with time as well?

You can change who you play with mid-fight, you can also play the monster with summon-type controls.
Just know that when Noel and Serah are dead it' s game over, even if the monster is still alive.
I suppose we can rule out any permanent member other than Noel and Serah.

how come her sword is different? Did she switch when she got taken away?

 

Yup. It's made to look more like a traditional sword.

 

I kinda like it, but I still like her older one better.

 

I' ve got the feeling it won' t happen nearly as much as you' d like.
Probably the intro, and that' s it folks ...
If it turns out I' m wrong keep a "Lightning save file" and don' t overwrite it.

 

I love both of the Gunblades. But the reveal for the XIII-2 Gunblade was amazing. A flash of feathers~

 

I swear they decided to use that because they wanted to do something like the intro of Final Fantasy VIII again.

 

The feathers are supposed to have a strong connection to the Goddess Etro. Feathers are awesome.

 

Or rather because they wanted to do something like Valkyrie Profile.
Death Goddess ? Check.
Pretty ? Check.
Armor ? Check.
Feathers ? Check check.

I do remember reading on the FFWiki that she was dressed in Valkyrie-like armour...I've never played Valkyrie Profile, so I can't really say anything.

 

I've played Valkyrie Profile 2, but not 1.

 

I've got to open myself up to more of Square-Enix's franchises.

Valkyrie Profile is ... legendary.
You have to play 1 (PSP) to understand 2 (PS2). If you like T-RPGs and own a DS or an emulator then you can play Covenant Of The Plume (it' s a side-story so you can play it even if you never played the others).

 

I know what my new year's resolution is: play Valkyrie Profile.

Fun fact; in Norse mythology a Valkyrie was a female figure who died in battle and returned to Valhalla, which was ruled by Odin. They traditionally rode horses that could fly without the use of wings, and wielded a sword and shield together, or a lance. They also had angel-like wings in some depictions.

Considering that Valhalla is also where warriors feasted while waiting for Ragnarok to come about, we can see where most of the inspiration for the story has come from.

 

I thought it was that a Valkyrie was the one who collected the souls of the ones who died that were brave and courageous and who they deemed worthy to go to Asgard. Although I think I have heard of some depictions that talked about angel-like wings.

 

Norse Mythology, huh? Square-Enix never fails to impress.
