doesnt seem like it is a new model. *le sigh* if it is though than that already looks a lot more amazing.

EDIT 2: Thought I'd give my two cents on HD remakes of FF in general, all stemming from FFX HD.

"why don't they remake FFVII?"

If they did that, it would be a long wait. First off, the graphics aren't exactly AMG TIFA'S BEAUTIFUL HSJSKANSJEYWIQLALASDFVSKAM, even for the PS1 era.

Second, the backgrounds are all pre rendered, meaning that they'd have to completely reconstruct them, as well as the character models, because they'd probably use realistically proportioned characters throughout the entire game.

"Then what about the classic games?"

FFI-FFVI is basically redrawing the sprites and backgrounds and replacing the old ones with them. The coding for sound cues and music cues would be left alone. All that would look better would be the characters. The sound would be a bit more high-quality as well. do that, and they've successfully remade the classic FF games. This would still take quite a bit though.

"Then why not just get on with Versus?"

A PS2 to PS3 release can be done in months, whereas remastering FFVII would be like making a new game and redrawing sprites and backgrounds for FFI-FFVI would take quite a bit, which, considering Square's state with Versus XIII barely starting production this year, FFX HD is an easier way to make money for the company, money that they can use to make Versus XIII even more epic than it already looks.

 

Yeah, this is pretty common with games, to have two models. Kingdom Hearts definitely does it. It sounds like the most rational explanation I can think of, because that image of the supposed remake Yuna just doesn't seem real to me.

Pretty sure they said the same thing about Versus so don't expect anything soon. 'Soon' to Square isn't the same to the rest of the world.

At this point I'd be fine if it was the HD version having just widescreen and add trophies. Any improvements will be a bonus. I just want to replay the game on my monitor instead of my huge SD TV. I hope they have FFX-2 added aswell since I never played it, but I know thats pretty unlikely.

 

Yeah, I doubt they'd include it because of how negative of a reception X-2 has, but I hope against hope :P
