Final Fantasy vs Tales of

The Fields outside Zanarkand-

Rita examined the map and fixed to their location. "If we travel to the west from where we are, we can reach the coast, but we will need some way across the ocean in order to get to the island." She said with her face buried in the map. She continued to walk towards the end of town slightly waving the others to come. At the corner of her eye she noticed a man with dark hair that was yelling at her. She had no clue to who he was and just ignored him while walking out.

The field was cold and a large river had been running through. Being this far north, things were normal to be cold. She shivered in her loose clothes and began to walk through. Several ice monsters roamed the field. She began to cast her fire spells to warm herself up, and kill the monsters that came across her and the group. It would be a little longer in order for them to reach the coast.



Nautilus Fields

Van looked around to notice they were stranded on an island. "It would be quicker if we traveled by boat and went south east to reach Thor. But we lack any form of boat to get off this island."

Cid Raines

"I may be able to assist with that." A boy came down from a large shuttle known as the Lindblum. "I am Cid Raines. I as well don't wish to stay this age. This ship can take us there much quicker."
Van smiled at him. "I am Van Grants. It is a pleasure to meet such a man with resources."
"Good. We can go faster now. The sooner the better."

 

Luneth-Castle Hien
As Luneth walked the halls of Castle Hien, he soon came to the conclusion that there was no one else there. "Hmmm.... If no one is here, and no darkness is controlling the elder tree, why is it Castle Hien?" It was a situation he could not fully understand, and he couldn't just ask the tree... or could he? It occurred to him that if the tree was not being controlled, then he could contact it with the power of the four elemental crystals that he held. "Alright then, looks like I've got a plan." He walked over to the wall, placed his hand against it, and focused. "Can you tell me what's you're doing?" he asked it.


Ramza-Balamb
When Ramza searched the town, he found that it was quite empty. "Where is everyone?" he asked himself. But of course, he didn't wander forever. When he was sure no evidence could be found of anyone living in the village, he proceeded to prepare himself to journey onward. "I must learn where I am and for what purpose." He took various items and clothing from the shops and grabbed a sword more fitting to his side. After all he couldn't fight using a weapon that was too heavy; he would surely lose. When he was sure he had everything, he headed out into the fields of Balamb.

 

Fields outside Zanarkand:



Irritation filled Yuri as Rita ignored him and he chased after her, clomping clumsily in his oversized boots. "Rita! Where do you think you're going?! You intend to just walk all the way to the Island of Thor? I didn't know you learned how to walk on water when we parted! HEY!" It was annoying...the idea of traveling to an island without a ship. How he wished they still had Judith with them...Ba'ul could've come in handy right about now. Catching up to Rita, Yuri panted, "Alright...so I'm not Estelle...I'm not your best friend...but what the hell, Rita? Don't you recognize me?"

Castle Baron:




Shocked at Asbel's arrival and then the arrival of another young child, Martel seemed to be the only one left as an adult. She frowned but immediately pasted on a gentle smile as she approached the new pair, "Hello Asbel...and to our other new friend. My name is Martel, Guardian of the World Tree." She knelt in front of Asbel and smoothed her palm over his hair. She didn't bother mention feeling the presence within Asbel...as he probably already knew about it. "You're troubled...but you do not need to be. Your body may indeed be smaller...but your experience...your power...the skills you have learned that and the bonds you've made that have made you strong are still very much there and as strong as they were the last time you were truly happy."

Nautilus:




Yuan, unfortunately, rolled onto his side and found his balance even with the great blade on his back and sighed as he saw Cid Raines and his ship. "Doesn't this go against every single warning I gave them? Oh well...who really wants to listen to an angel ramble on and on. Heh...instead...this might just prove interesting. But first to rid myself of this tiny body. The Island of Thor, hm? Not a problem." Spreading glittering, blue wings, Yuan took flight, "Now...the Island..."

Field: Kratos:



Kratos didn't enjoy walking and taking so much time to reach the island...but he doubted he could take on Chronos in his current state. No..he'd definitely need Zack and Basch to help him. Working as a team would prove better than alone. "This isn't my home world...I wouldn't suggest the possibility that I know where I'm going." At least that much he could admit...however slightly embarrassing it was.

 

~Baron castle~

Asbel was petted on the head by the woman who named herself Martel and she spoek to him about the bonds he formed, could she read minds? he didn't know but as Martel was still touching him, a voice echoed within her head, it was Lambda speaking privately with teh Goddess as Asbel shown no reaction of the conversation on. "A Goddess is what you proclaim yourself to be but you nothing more than a lifeform of the world with a life span, I do sense a great flow of power within your body which isn't the kind of energy I seen, but can you deal with the passage of time as those you know will one day be taken away by that very same flow?" he asked before continuing after a few seconds silence.

"Live to see what future holds within the world and see where the future generations take their course, Child of the World Tree." he said before turning silent.

Asbel blinked and nodded, he knew what she meant, his bonds to Richard and the others was his strength.

 

-Balamb Fields-

"All I want is join you in defeating and destroying this Chronos so I can be restored to my original age. I promise not to be a burden." Golbez said, not hesitating at Lighting when she spoke him harshly. He ran a hand through his short brown hair and sighed, having forgotten his days as a child and wondered what weapon he would wield now and pondered how they would reach the Isle of Thor. "I only wish for the same thing as you two."




-Rabanastre-

Rydia looked through a weapon shop to find a weapon she could use before they headed out, Cecil went to the clothing shop and changed his clothes into something suitable. He went to a tarven called the Sandsea and looked through a map he found which the whole world, Cecil was surprised to see that Castle Baron in the world and sighed, continuing to study the map when Rydia came with a bag of weapons that they could use in their current situation. "Hmmm? Great, a map. Hey, there's Castle Baron and there's the Isle of Thor." Rydia said, smiling as she looked over the map with Cecil



-Castle Baron-

"Hello, there. What might your name be, miss?" Zidane said, smiling at the new arrival who appeared in the castle. He walked over to her and smiled, shaking her hand. "Name's Zidane, nice to meet you."



-Alexandria-

Basch kept quiet, wondering how they will be able to get to the Isle and defeat Chronos in their current state. He touched his scar and sighed, thinking how worried Larsa must be and how the others are taking his disappearance. Thinking about what happened so far, Basch wondered why they were picked and ran a hand through his hair.

 

Castle Baron:

Martel simply smiled as she listened to Lambda, however wrong his assumption was. Martel was and would always be not like the humans she cared for. As a Summon Spirit, she would live on for centuries and even further to see generations far into the future. As long as the World Tree was alive, she had purpose...but she could never die. The thought saddened her slightly, but as long as she had the World Tree...like the Giant Kharlan Tree....she was happy. Lloyd and Colette weren't in this world...that much she could tell and the power of mana waned and fluxed with the power of the ones who came to judge them. "Well, shall we go?" Briefly, Martel wondered if any of her young friends were summoners. It wouldn't hurt to ask, right? "Might any of you be summoners? I'm not sure how much help I'd be in a battle...but I can do healing magic." She didn't mention how many partial angel souls she held within her empty body...it was enough that they had been sacrificed for the planet.

 

Luneth-Castle Hien
The response the tree gave him slightly startled Luneth. "I don't know much about this place yet." It said to his mind. "I was just born into this place; I am a copy of the Castle Hien you once visited." Luneth thought about this for a minute. He knew that worlds had many trees, generally.
"Do you know anyone older that I could ask?
"I do sense someone that might help us; If we reached out to her mind from here, we may both gain some understanding."
"Alright! Let's try it!" Luneth said cheerfully. He closed his eyes, and felt the minds of both him and the tree reach out toward that of a woman with green hair with four other beings at a stone castle.


Ramza-Fields of Balamb
As he traversed the fields outside of Balamb, Ramza wondered what had become of his friends, and if he would ever see them again. He sighed and shook his head; he -would- see them again. No matter what happened, he would find out what had happened and find his way back home. As he walked further along the paths, he saw three people who were obviously in the same position as he: One wore clothes too large, and another was pointing a weapon much too large for him to carry at the third. "What's going on here?" Ramza asked himself. He was worried about the details of the exact situation would have been, but he decided the best way to intervene would be to just walk up and ask; if he had to fight: So be it. "Pardon me," he started politely as he approached them. "...Might I inquire of you three as to what exactly is going on here?"

Agrias Oaks-Castle Baron
Agrias was somewhat surprised that Zidane actually gave her a handshake; his kind usually just went straight to kissing your hand. She took this as a sign that he was a least somewhat respectful and/or responsible. "Of course, How rude of me to forget introductions. Absel, Martel, Zidane; I am Lady Agrias Oaks of the Crowns Elite: The Lionsguard. At Martels' statements Agrias responded Curiously: Yes, I have the capabilities to summon, though I have not yet perfected the art. But why leave, I mean no trouble, but you have still not answered my question; What is this place, and why am I here?"

 

Castle Baron:



Martel's attention split as she felt a pull of a life trying to gain her attention and Agrias' question. "This is Castle Baron....we're all here to start new life in this world. At least that's what the man calling himself a god told us." She smiled sadly and focused inward. It wasn't the World Tree calling her...nor the tree on Derris Kharlan...so who? 'You who call for the knowledge of a Summon Spirit...what is your name, little one?' Communicating with another tree...she was certain the World Tree would be overjoyed at the presence of another of it's kind. But...an old memory filled her heart and unfortunately spilled over into her words to the young tree of Castle Hein. Sorrow at the death of the Giant Kharlan Tree....sympathy for it's previous Guardian Spirit....and the young half-elves' anger towards mankind. Pain crossed her face and she shut her eyes on the people before her and clasped her hands under her chin, banishing the painful emotions of Martel the Half-Elf and all the half-elves sacrificed. Martel summoned the memory of Lloyd's promise to her...

"..In it's current state, the tree will wither and die."

"Well then...how do we protect it?"
"You must provide the tree with love and adoration. As long as those conditions are met, I shall always protect the seedling."
"Then I promise if the tree ever starts to wither...I'll make sure...we won't let it die!"
"Then, Lloyd, on behalf of all living things I want you to give this tree a new name...as proof of the pact."
"What?"
"The Giant Kharlan Tree was planted here by the elves when they first came as a guardian to watch over and protect all of them. This newly reborn tree protects elves, humans, and the lives of all those who are caught in between. Therefore, this tree requires a new name."

The day had made her smile and have faith in the new world. Even now...even if she was without Lloyd or the Chosen...she would find new friends to love and adore the World Tree. Opening her eyes just a crack, she slid her gaze from Asbel to Zidane and to Agrias. They were kind people who understood the horrors of war and the need for love in the world.

 

Zanarkand to Thor: Fields

Rita and the group reached the coastline to the island. Sure it was a long ways away and they had no transportaion, but this would not stop her. It would be risky to use her magic to cross, but she had no choice. Rita began to spin her scarf around and speak incantations. A large amount of rocks came shooting out from the water. Another incantation was said as a sheet of ice covered the rocks to even it out. "There is the path, lets go." She began to hope what she did did not effect the aer bad enough.

It took a little while but they crossed the land bridge that Rita made and reached the island of Thor where Chronos would be at. "Chronos is on this island somewhere. Lets get that punk and bring his age reign to and end!"



The Sea: On the Lindbum

The ship crossed the sea at a quick pace. The island was in site as they approached. "We are almost there. Prepare to decent to the island."
"Finally we can kick that guy's ass."
"Luke, be patient. You as well as most of us do not know his abilities. The advantage we have is our numbers. But quality can always outdo quantity."
Luke grunted at his master's words. The ship came to a halt and was above the island. Luke jumped down grabbing the rope and landing on the ground.
Van and Cid followed.

 

-Castle Baron-

"I don't know where we are, Arigas." Zidane said, before looking out a window with a seldom look on his face. "In all honestly, I don't even know where this world is. All I know that we are supposed to make this world what we supposed to make it. And apparently we will never able to be return to our original worlds."



-Rabanastre: Southgate-

Cecil and Rydia stood at the entrance to the Southgate which led out of the city. "So do we have everything we need for the voyage?" Rydia asked, holding a bag of various potion, ethers, and other healing items. Cecil nodded, adjusting his shield and and said, "Yes, we are just waiting on Tidus. He must be wandering around, so I doubt that he is a resident of this city. But I hope to visit again, this city is so beautiful." Rydia blushed and held his hand, Cecil smiled and firmly gripped her hand.



-Balamb Field-

Golbez noticed the young man who approached them and asked what was going on, he turned and looked away. He didn't feel like he should answer his question and kept quiet, thinking and hoping that Cecil wasn't on this world, unaware of the feeling in the pit of his stomach that he was wrong. He would let Lighting or Squall explain what was happening at the moment.

 

~Castle Baron~

Asbel fished a hand into a bag that carried the inventory of his travels, a map was provided for them and he examined it, noting their location. "Well, we are here." He palced the map down on the floor for them all to see as he indicated a finger over the destination of Baron. "So we got to eitere go around Mt. Gulg or through it, then through Wutai and onto Lhant Hill, i imagine transport will be provided for to reach the island unless our enemy plans on having us swim." he said suggestively.

~Rabanstre~

Tidus caught up witH Cecil and Rydia after finding a Map, all he did was trim his clothes to be more appiorate. "Big problem, we're far away from this Thor place, it would probaly take a day or two if we keep moving and not stop in any towns." he said to them, showing them.

~Balamb Fields~

Squall just gave a hn and looekd at the Map he pocketed out, they were along way from their destination, even more so, it woudl perhaps take two to three days even if they travelled light and avoided any stops.

 

Luneth- Castle Hien
"My name is Luneth." He said to Martel. Through their current mind-link, he could slightly feel memories of her past, as well as the presence of others around her. Above all he could feel the recent memories of the instructions given to proceed. "The Island of Thor." He thought. He asked the tree if it could provide him with the landscape of the world, a request it fulfilled. He pinpointed the locations of Martel and her companions, as well as his own location, and came up with a plan. "Martel, Southwest of your position is a place called Mt. Gulg. We could ask the trees to help us quickly reach there, where we'll meet up, and continue northwest towards the ocean that prevents us from reaching The island. Once there we could find a way to cross. What do you think?"


Ramza-Balamb Fields
Ramza merely stood with his eyebrow raised and his arms crossed as Squall grunted and Lightning walked away carrying her clothing. "That doesn't necessarily explain why you have turned your blade towards another; what has he done to stand in your way?" He sighed. "Though I suppose you have no mind to speak of it with me. Mayhap you could tell me where to find this "Isle of Thor" and he and I will be out of your path."


Agrias- Castle Baron
"I see;" Agrias answered. Though it was Zidane's response that struck her. "Never return?" It also confused her what Asbel had said about and enemy. "What is our goal? If it is too much trouble to stay here to converse, would you kindly explain to me on the way to our destination?"

 

DUNGEON: THE ISLAND OF THOR​

Rita observed the island. It was largely covered in rocks. Not much seemed to live here. It was as if a terrible fate had landed on this island. "I agree with you Vincent. Bad guys are never that easy. I would presume he be in the center of the island however. The large metal fortress ahead should have an entrance to where we can begin our search."

"Its good to see others are here to fight off Chronos as well. I am Van and this is my apprentice, Luke fon Fabre."
"I am Cid Raines." He bowed to them. "When flying here, I saw a small entrance on the other side of the island. It may be best for us to begin there."
"Yes, that is exactly what we need. Chronos should be hiding in there."
"I just hope we can do this quickly. I don't want to be a kid anymore."

The group walked to the metal fortress and entered the Dungeon.

The Dugenon lead straight down. The walls were made of glass and the ocean underneath the waves could be seen. The lining on the floor was of a mossy gold and the air became thicker and thicker. Monsters awaited them as they came down the hallways of the underwater/ground structure. They were not low leveled, they had great strength. They had to for being able to survive in such a place.

 

Island of Thor:

Yuan had followed closely as Cid Raines flew the rather horribly rude pair to the island. Even as a child, Yuan seemed to still have all his spells, skills and the unbearably hilarious fact that he was still a Cruxis Angel. He landed where he found the first entrance and headed inside, taking in the rather familiar feeling of being underground in a place that held an opponent he would destroy. All the water reminded him of the time at the Human Ranch where Botta, his loyal friend, sacrificed himself to save those kids. "No point in dwelling in the past." Realizing he wasn't exactly alone, Yuan smirked at Luke, Van, Rita and Cid and whoever else was there. Leaving his heavy great blade attached to his back, Yuan held one hand in front of him, "At least I don't have to worry about being hit in the back of the head by some idiot." A magic circle formed below his feet, glowing a dark purple. "Martel...guide me. Oh...you guys might want to duck." The area wasn't as wide as he wanted it to be and casting a large spell like Indignation was bound to hit a large area. "I call upon thee from the land of dead to unleash thy fury of thunder. Indignation!" A large bolt of lightning struck down from the ceiling incinerating at least four monsters in the blast. Exhaling, Yuan leaned against the wall, "Whew...takes a lot more out of me than it used to. I should stick to low level spells at the very least..."

Yuri Lowell, having followed Rita, since she was the only one he knew well, he figured out he gist of why she didn't respond. She doesn't remember me...it's like she's from a different time than I am or somethin'. This is going to be a pain... Watching Yuan cast his spell, Yuri flinched at the light, "Hey, watch where you're casting that! Jeez...talk about as reckless as a certain mage I know." Even though he said that, Yuri patted the young Rita's head as he walked past her. He'd folded, tied up and made things word with his clothes so they wouldn't get in his way as he fought. Yuri had fought Flynn enough times with a sword the same size as the one he held that it wasn't a huge problem for him. "We'll have to break through those monsters to get to Chronos. I've got this completely under control." With that, Yuri dashed off towards the monsters, sword held loftily in his left hand.


Castle Baron:

Martel nodded quietly to Luneth's suggestion. She, being the summon spirit she was, sent him a jolt of her own power, forming a pact with him through the tree he was connected to. Luneth would be able to move through, touch and use any cursed object and endure negative spells with her protection. If Luneth had the ability to...he could also summon her, but Martel wasn't a fighting sort of summon spirit. Turning to her new friends, she set a hand on Zidane's head and smiled down at the young ones. "First we will head to Mt. Gulg to meet with another who will help us on our journey. Then we head to the Island of Thor. Don't worry on a way to cross...my power should be sufficient enough." It was strange to her to not be able to age like the ones around her. As they got smaller...she would not be affected by the change...but the Great Tree would. Being ten years old made the tree smaller and the amount of mana it produced much more taxing on the young sapling. Tightening her grip on her staff, Martel's gentle eyes changed to those of one who'd seen war enough times to know how much pain would be inflicted. "I will protect the tree... Agrias, you proclaimed yourself a summoner. I ask you form a pact with me." She held out her hand to Agrias, "I don't require a display of your strength. All I ask is that you do not breath the conditions of this pact."

 

On the island of Chronos, Lumina and her companions had finally arrived. They followed the leaders to a metal entrance that led down. "W-We're not REALLY going down there, are we?" she asked curiously and a bit scared.

"Why not?" said a voice behind them. "It's not like we'll be turned back into our regular age by standing around here..." Behind Lumina were three young girls, the speaker was the black-haired one. "I'm Tifa."
The next speaker was a petite ten-year old who seemed INCREDIBLY full of energy. "Hi! I'm Rikku!"
Lastly, there was an older blonde who seemed really shy and timid, almost the opposite of the smaller blonde. "Hello, I'm TIna..."
Tifa, who was obviously in charge, approached the entrance. "Well, let's get going."

 

~Snow: Thor~

Snow looked at Lumina with a grin. "Hey don't worry! I'll protect you all, that's what a hero's meant to do right?" he said with his trademark smile, before seeing three newergirls join the group, Tifa, RIkku and Tina, was it just him or were there more women? Well at least he ahd some male company, Cloud and that Vincent guy too, but

~Zack: Alenandria~

Zack had a sudden shiver run down his spine, he dd not know why or how so he just shook it off. "So...off this Thor Island then, kinda wish we had a helicopter or something to make it a faster journey." he mentioned to the group.

~Asbel/Lambda: Baron Castle Dungeon~

Asbel looked at Arigas. "Well, weren't you summoned here lie everyone else by those said we are here to create a new world or something like that?" He asked before duly noting there weren't moving and their new companion had a point. "Then I suppose we'll explain on the way, otherwise we may get even younger at this rate and we don't want to be rendered helpless when we're babies." he pointed out and started to leave.

~Balamb Fields~

"Training's gifts, it's always best to be on your guard, even with your allies, especially since this is the first time we met, I'm just following the rules of where I joined, would you let down your weapon and leave yourself exposed to someone you recently met without knowing they'll be a friend or enemy?" Squall asked Ramza, his eyes staring at him.

 

Luneth- Castle Hien
Luneth Nodded to himself. "Thank You for your help." He said to Martel. "I'll meet up with you as soon as I can." Upon ending his contact with Martel he addressed the tree that was Castle Hien. "Thank you as well my friend." He headed outside and saw the vast new world that lie before him. He thought to himself for a moment. It had been his Idea to use the plants and trees to speed him along towards his destination. However, this was mostly a thought that occurred to him for the sake of the group of people that he would soon be meeting. Since he was currently alone, he needed to fully analyze this world. "Here me winds; I ask that you aid me in my quest." His request was slowly fulfilled as a gust gathered around him. It was somewhat strange to be doing in a ten-year-old's body but he began to fly. As he soared higher he quickly scanned the surrounding area. He only had so much time to see the surrounding area and quickly fly to Mt. Gulg; His ability to fly was not an ability that lasted indefinitely. The winds bid that he find his own path, and face the dangers of the land, which was sound wisdom to be sure. Another fact was that they could not carry multiple people for very long at all; much wind was needed for that and not all winds were 100% cooperative. Satisfied that he had had a good look at the surrounding area, he flew off towards Mt. Gulg.


Ramza-Balamb Fields
"No, I would likely not lower my weapon. However, Neither would I point it directly at another person either. Mayhap you make an enemy of one who is not, and while it is better to be cautious than careless, it is better to not be Presumptuous at all. As for a map, I did not find one in Balamb. Let us dispense with this pointless argument; we are wasting our own time."


Agrias- Castle Baron
Agrias was somewhat surprised at the sudden offer, but she did not object. "Y-yes of course." She was not sure exactly what to do, but she shook Martel's hand.
