Final Fantasy VII: Echoes from the Lifestream

"Er... strictly speaking, that's top secret information... the only reason i'm even considering telling you, is because I know that guy can keep his mouth shut."
He pointed to Cloud and although he had a nasty look on his face, it seemed like he was ready to make some sarcastic remark about that last statement. He looked at Tifa, sure she could stay quiet on the subject, but he wasn't so sure about Barret.
"Well, it's... pretty bad, to say the least. Some of us Turks did some things and all of a sudden these beasts start showing up. Don't look at me though, they left me out of that mission! That's about all I know on the subject, considering Mr. Shinra has been keeping it on a need to know basis, and I don't need [or want] to know about any of this."
He was telling the honest truth, but he wondered if Cloud would be able to tell that. He looked back at Tifa, not quite sure what she was thinking.
Oh man... I can't believe i'm spilling major secrets to former members of AVALANCHE... if anyone hears about this, I am SO screwed. I just hope I can get my drink...

 

"A wall would have been a better conversation for you, Reno", Cloud replied. It was up to Tifa to get him a drink but Cloud didn't like having Shinra's lapdogs around. The amount of secrets they've kept at times of danger has caused roundabouts of problems before.
Cloud looked out the open door to check his bike was still there. It was, the front was just in sight. All his swords where in there in case he needed them.

 

Tifa listen to Reno, then said, "So Shinra's responsible once again..."
Moving to the fridge, she took out a beer and slid it towards the Turk. "I'm sorry Reno, but take it and get out. Unless you can actually help us, I don't think it's a good idea to hang around here."

She sighed softly. Tifa wanted to forgive the Turks, maybe even Shinra, but it seemed that every time they apologized they were behind another problem. Looking down, she thought, "I just hope the kids are safe...but I have to stay strong, I don't want to get Cloud or Barret worried."

 

Rufus let out a sigh as he sat in his chair and took a sip of a drink he just poured out. "Deepground" Rufus said pulling out another folder and casually glanced through the interior of the folder "from what the Turks have reported Deepground was responsible for the attack half a year ago" Rufus said as he looked at one specif article "Genesis has ties with Deepground" Rufus said as he sighed as he rested his elbow on his chair handle and placed his cheek on his fist "Tseng, Elena, and Rude are off around the world searching for clues yet Reno has taken far to long to return" Rufus muttered to himself quietly in annoyance as he drew out his cellphone and called Reno

 

Reno grabbed the drink and sighed, ignoring Cloud's rude remark.
"Well, i'm sorry that I can't help you out anymore..."
He actually DID feel sorry about it. It was a bit odd, but he wasn't gonna question it when he had a cold beer in his hand and another long walk ahead of him. He sighed again and popped the cap off. As he began to drink from the bottle his phone rang. He almost had a heart attack and nearly dropped the drink. He checked the caller ID.
Oh crap... Mr. Shinra!
"Er... I guess i'll be going now. Thanks for the beer."
He walked out of the bar and let the phone ring a bit longer. He opened it up and waited to be lectured while remaining as collected as possible at a time like this.
"Hello?"
He asked as calmly as possible, hoping not to draw any suspicion from his boss.

 

"good day to you Reno. As I recall you had orders to stay back here until further orders. I suppose since you disregarded my orders you must have found something quite useful. I await to see what you have found. I want a full and detailed report on what you did upon leaving. That is all" Rufus said. Although his voice sounded kind and pleasant, it was obvious that it was only a mask to hide his fearful anger. Hanging up his cellphone before Reno could reply, Rufus let out a sigh "idiot" Rufus muttered

 

Reno heard the dial tone and knew he was totally screwed. His mouth was still open. He had no chance to speak, but he figured he could come up with some sort of thing that was fairly close to the truth. He walked along as quickly as possible while still seeming casual.
Holy crap... I am so getting screwed over today. I'd better finish the beer quick.
He took a big gulp of beer and tried to finish it as quickly as possible before meeting Mr. Shinra. If he found out just what he'd been doing, there was no telling what would happen...
He was halfway back to the hideout at this point. He made sure to finish the drink with a good distance left and threw the bottle away. As he was checking his breath to make sure it didn't smell too much like liquor, he knew what he was going to say. When he got there he casually made his way to see Mr. Shinra, making sure not to change back into his Turk uniform. He stood tall in front of his boss, looking pretty confident.
"You wanted to see me, sir? I- I have my report, if you'd like to hear it."

 

"very well then, you may begin you report" Rufus said folding his hands as he sat on his chair and watched Reno. As he awaited Reno's report Rufus examined Reno's facial expression to see how he would react. Observing Reno's confident look, he was intrigued at the prospect that Reno might actually have some sort of valuable information. Of course this all depended on what Reno said

 

"Alright then."
Dammit... i've gotta make this perfect or i'm so screwed.
"Well, first off, I made sure not to wear my uniform outside so nobody would recognize me. I wouldn't be so careless as to wear it outside in broad daylight. As to my location, I went to spy on someone who probably knows some good information on this crisis. I'm sure that you already know who i'm speaking of, but, just so we're on the same page... it was Cloud Strife."
He was a bit nervous once he mentioned Cloud, but he made sure not to let it show in his face.
"I found that he was with another member of AVALANCHE, so I think they're planning something. I figured that Cloud would know something, but I wasn't able to find out anything incredibly helpful yet."
He looked at his boss, making sure to show that he was done with the report.
