for a reason unknown to me, final fantasy 9 was least unapreciated final fantasy made. why? that one and X were my favorites. gameplay is good, i like the characters and there's a lot of fun to do. also i heard they did'nt sell nearly as many copies as 7 or 8.
because every little FF7 fanboy was still too much in love with it, and after 8 was absoloutly horrible they didn't want to even bother with 9, which is bull cause it's the best.
I absolutely agree with you. It seems FF IX was the least appreciated game and so underrated. Part of the reason is that the artwork for the characters was done the way it was. I am pretty sure of it because most people I have gotten into discussions with always say they hate the chibi artwork. Coming after FF7 and FF VIII where characters were drawn more with some 'realism' the chibi cuteness of FF IX seemed a bad maneuver to do. However, I will say that after I convinced many to actually play the game and give it a chance, they came back and raved about the game. It had the usual hangups of being annoyed at the White Mage that can't cast things because she 'can't concentrate or the other that was a perv' but overall most really liked it. I thought the story, even though it reflected on former ones, was one of the fresher tales and the characters were vibrant. It was also nice to see a non-Emo main character that still cared for others. I do have to admit though, I almost didn't play the game because of the artwork concept for the characters either. It made it look so childish. Ironically, this is also what took me a year to play KH. Disney and Final Fantasy mixed...just seemed like a horrible blend. If people haven't played it because they've heard bad things, I'd say to ignore the ones who said it and give it a try. For fans of the former games, it is a great game, and well...I actually liked this game a lot more than FF X, which I thought was horribly overrated.
