Are you sure? When I heard about this the list said FF3 was on sale for 10 bucks (9 for PS+)

Well, its not on the list now and the EU store never got it either. Guess they aren't feeling too generous for their 25th anniversary.

Now that's unfair. Fans over in the EU have been complaining that the last two FF sales have seen FFIII left out.

Kinda confusing to call it the "25th Anniversary" when the title still says "Since 1987" lol.

But technicalities aside, think I'll finally indulge in that Final Fantasy IV collection. c:

    EDIT: Wait.

FF6 and FF4 are the most popualr introductions to the series. FF7 is culturally important, so there's that. FF3 and FF5 are probably a bit overwhelming for a first game, and FF1 and 2 haven't aged well. The Dissidia games are some pretty fun and unique fighting games. Just get Duodecim though: it literally comes with an enhanced remake of the first game. Tactics has a great stor, it's a pretty neat strategy game. FF13-2 is the newest and I like it quite a bit, but it's not for everyone, and honestly, there are better games on sale. FF9 is a really great game, but I'd recommend playing that after playing other FF games, since it references a lot of them.
Personally, I think FF6 is the best one, but it really depends on if you want to play the best game first. You also need some tolerance for oldschool style games. Honestly, I like the GBA version better though.
FF4 Collection is a pretty sweet deal, definitive versions of FF4 and its surprisingly great sequel, plus a bonus interquel game that's decently lengthy.

Final Fantasy IX is the best game in the series, but FFIV is also a great place to start. FFX is a solid starting point, but that's obviously not on sale. Just don't start with FFVIII or especially FFXIII. They're not just the worst Final Fantasy titles, they're just all around bad games, especially FFXIII. God that game sucks.
