Yeah so, I have no idea if this is in the right spot. Anyways, right now I'm in Galbadia Garden grinding in the Ice Rink to get my characters up to lv100, and this takes such an annoying amount of time. That, and I don't exactly have the greatest weapons right now. So for anyone that's played FFVIII, or anyone with better sense than me, do you guys think I should finish grinding my characters to lv100 before I finish up the second disk or just get them all up to a suitable level. Last time I got 4 people up to 100 but only got the other 2 up to lv70 or something. Very tedious, veeerrry tedious. So, should I just grind my teeth and keep going, or mess myself up by not finishing and see what happens?
If I recall, the monsters in FFVIII level up with you lol so grinding won't help. I don't think anyway. Never beat the game.
they do, but that doesn't mean that the experience does. Which kinda sucks. That's why most people recommend Island Closest to Heaven/Island Closest to Hell, but these guys level you up in 2 fights since the max exp. it takes to level up when you're high enough is 1000, and you can get around 500 to 777(that's the highest I've gotten), so it's faster and easier than what most people say
Actually it' s best to wait as much as you can to level up your favorite characters because the latest GFs of the game give you the complete level up stat boosting abilities set (strength up at level up, magic up at level up etc ...). If you already have the 3 abilities corresponding to the 3 stats you' d like to boost as much as possible then you' re ready to grind (you can' t equip more than 3 abilities at once, unless you manage to wait until you get Bahamut which lets you equip 4 abilities). Pro-tip : boosting the magic stat is utterly useless since magics are better left unused and linked to your stats. If you' re already lv 60 don' t panic, you can use Eden' s "devour" ability later on to boost any stat, it' s just very tedious (and honestly it' s not really required, I' m just a perfectionist). As for the best and quickest way to grind ... have you learned Quistis' s "degenerator" limit break yet ? If not check your items or refine some cards that give items you don' t already have, you should be able to learn it at this point. It allows you to instant kill almost every enemy in the game, it just doesn' t work on bosses. I you have it then keep a badly injured Quistis in your team, find a good grinding spot (one that has lots of single tough enemies for example) and spam the triangle button until she' s ready to throw a limit break. BTW, the ice rink isn' t a good spot, go to the Cerberus boss room a little further, the three-headed enemies there are tough but they give some awesome objects (you can steal and refine 100 of them into another object that teaches Quistis her last limit break or can be used for other cool things too), there' s a save point in the room and you won' t see some again for a looong while (plus you won' t encounter as many of them again as in this room).
I know magic is useless, I just stock to 100 with my characters, I've got degenerator on quistis already, I've got the bonuses for Str, Mag, and HP already on my GFs, but I don't really use them, and so far I've had a pretty good time in the ice rink. May not get attacked often, but it's still better than anywhere else. I've actually fought in the room with cerberus and it was pretty long to level up for me. And it's not the triangle button, it's circle, and I know it's better to have a person in the yellow to do a limit break, since that's what I do to train squall in the beginning every time. And I've still got a ways to go till I get to Bahamut, so I'm not going to take that time, and Ik now about the Devour ability, but I've never even got to Eden before(actually I've never got bahamut before, I only managed to get to Disk 4 once), and I've seen that it can take a long time. I'm not taking that long. I'm thinking since I'm almost halfway done anyways, I might just finish putting up Zell and Irvine and work on the last 3.
well, you really don't need to grind in FFVIII since the only difference is for HP and Strength, and your enemies HP goes up(it's actually a different formula for each monster) compared to your levels. I do it mostly for the HP, and fighting the Slappers can give you either 9 or 12 AP, it depends whether you're fighting 3 or 4, so it can help getting abilities for your GFs. And grinding isn't bad, since it can help.
Yeah, I usually only grind for GF abilities. So good. Otherwise the game is pretty simple. I actually went up thirty levels in that dungeon, that's how far below I was. But I still made it :L
Yeah, what I want to know is what I did wrong before. I think it might have either been the weapons or the equiped magic, but the last file I had before saving it over with this one was the first time I had ever gotten to the 4th disk(and that took many years, sadly enough) but when I got to the second boss I could only attack, and I got murdered because I couldn't heal, and my team was being killed in like 2 hits. So this time around I drew magic to 100 for each character whenever I found a stronger magic, so right now I've got blizzaga, thundaga, firaga, curaga, quake, and some other stuff on my stats right now. I know I should use to Bonus abilities from the GFs, but fighting the slappers can be dangerous. If you aren't careful they'll kill you in one hit. They've been doing it to Irvine because his HP is too low and they have an attack that can hit critical and have vitality drop to zero, so it's really dangerous.
PFFFFHAHAHA oh god So good Soooo good That's how the last dungeon works. You lose EVERYTHING, including your junctions. So all of your stats are terrible. You have to unlock your moves piece-by-piece by defeating the bosses. And you can fight the bosses in any order after the first one, so you might end up getting thrashed by your second encounter. Honestly, just look up a guide for the best order. The only difference it'll make is saving you a lot of tedious trial-and-error; you still have to have the skill to take them down. But yeah, that's not your fault at all. If you're Lv70 or higher, just go for it, you're ready.
I think than 70lvl are good...the difference between the lvls are is not too big...as they said before only Hp and strenght....so after 70lvl go on....
yeah, but the problem is having one person at lv100 and the others at lv70 isn't good, because the formulas for the enemies' HP and strength is determined based on your levels(and some other nonsense, but I don't know), so if you really did that only your lv100 would actually be able to stand a slight chance. I know, it's exactly what happened to me for the most part last file. So I'm not going to try and make that mistake again.
