It doesn't have a monthly fee, that just means there's optional downloadable content packs you can get. The game costs $15 to purchase, and then you can buy new races, quests, buildings, and a pack for alternate clothing separately for like $3 each if you so choose. I'd say the game is definitely worth it if you've ever enjoyed a game like The Sims, Zoo Tycoon, Sim Theme Park, etc. because it's like those, only Final Fantasy themed. It starts out sorta slow as you go through the tutorials, but stick with it and it gets a ton better and you get so addicted to it xD
