Female fronted bands

Simple concept here folks, just post some recommendations of female fronted bands, metal, rock, punk, anything really.

Battlelore, power metal band with elements of industrial and death metal with vocal duties shared between a male vocalist and a female vocalist.

Epica, my personal favorite symphonic metal band. Simone Simmons is a brilliant singer and the band uses a perfect mix of modern metal instruments with classical instruments.

Luca Turilli's Dreamquest, one album out, though mostly an excuse for Mr. Turilli to show off his keyboarding skills as opposed to the guitar skills he shows off with Rhapsody of Fire, their mystery vocalist "Mystique" is what makes this band for me.

Nightwish, one of the most popular female fronted bands for a reason. Tarja Turunen is a great vocalist (though not a great solo artist) that put out some great material before she was fired. Her replacement, Annette Olzon has had mixed reactions from fans. I personally prefer Annette over Tarja, but both are great vocalists.

Within Temptation, another symphonic metal band that uses a mix of orchestral and metal.

Xandria, though she quit early last year, Xandria's vocalist was what made this band. Hopefully Lisa Middelhauve's replacement, Lakonia, will prove to be just as good.

 

With regards to Nightwish, I kind of think of them as two bands, Nightwish when Tarja was still around and Nightwish2 now that they have Annette, I personally prefer Tarja over Annette mainly because Annette is too mainstream pop sounding to me and the girl cannot keep still >>

I'll throw in my two cents,

Lacuna Coil I love their music and whilst they aren't majorly heavy or hardcore, they are pretty easy listening and idk, they are quite fun IMO. I loooooooove their cover of Enjoy the Silence.

Arch Enemy Angela Gossow has the most incredible growl I **** you not. They aren't for everyone but I like them rather a lot.

 

Staying with the symphonic heavy genre: Evanescence. Often compared to Within Temptation and Nightwish, but still somewhat different.

Damn, I can only think of female artist, not female fronted bands :]​

Arch Enemy are a fantastic band, probably one of the only female-fronted bands I like(And know).
My friend thought Angela Gossow was a man when she heard one of their songs. xD

 

I seriously thought it was a guy as well xD

well I like Flyleaf, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and a japanese metal band called exist†trace (it's an all-female band.)

 

Porcelain and the tramps.

Alania Beaton has the most awesome whisky, rusty (whore like :D) voice. I love it.
And they make great "dangerous" trashy rock/metall music.

 

I'm not sure about "fronted" bands because none of the bands I listen to have a definite frontman. o:

1997 but they're very pop/punk/folk. They always have a female vocalist, but they've had three different ones to this point. :>

Kerri and Caleb folk-y side project of the aforementioned band. :>

Defiance, Ohio they've got a girl in their band, although she doesn't sing in all their songs. they're kind of folk/punk/acoustic. they're a little messy at times but damn can those kids play violins/cellos.

First of all, her name is Anette. And second, she said she was going to leave the band for family reasons.

Seriously, if you're going to recommend a damn band, atleast provide snippits of their material so people can check them out. Hate you guys.

 

If you're talking about Tarja, she was fired because the rest of the band felt that she was taking advantage of them. If you're talking about Anette, where did you hear this?

I agree with you on the nightwish thing.......Tarja has a voice that sounds more like an opera voice, than Annette.....i kinda like it......Wierd.....

 

I was talking about Anette and I heard it from my friend who had read it from the biggest music magazine around here.
