So yeah, the Japanese versions of the KH games always have the configuration to fit the Japanese way of playing (O as Confirm and X as Cancel). The overseas versions changed it so it would fit the American way of play (X as Confirm and O as Cancel) and therefore the functions of the Attack and Jump buttons were reversed as well. Which configuration is better in your opinion? I suppose a lot of people are gonna say the American because that's the configuration they're used to or such (if they haven't played Final Mix, of course). But, is it really that better?

In my opinion the Japanese config will always be better, because it's the ORIGINAL, the one the creators of the game intended it to be. I think it's ridiculous that they always have to mess this up, it really is quite unnecessary and stupid. Why can't they do like in the Xenosaga games and keep it intact? It would save a lot of modding to do as well (such as the O/X button images in the Atlantica songs, for example). Not only that, but also because it's easier to use. In KH1 Atlantica, it makes it easy to figure out which buttons makes you ascend or descend. Square is above X, so of course Square ascends and X descends. In the US version, you had to guess which button does what and keep trying until you get it right. Then, in KH2, you had to press Attack button and Triangle at the same time to do the Limits at full power and also to dodge Twilight Xemnas's final attack. It's a breeze to do it with the original config, since O and Triangle are very close to each other, but X is hard to use with Triangle.

    Any thoughts? Discuss.

I like the Japanese one. You get used to it after a while and it just seems easier to me.

I like the Japanese one during gameplay, but when I'm trying to do stuff in the menu, it's pretty annoying since I'm used to the American version.

Oh, I missunderstood the question. So therefore I voted for the overseas. But I like the Japnese version best. Sorry.

I prefer Japanese configuration because it's easier and faster to press triangle. I guess there are no arguments why Overseas version was better. I've played both of these configurations and it really took a while getting used to Japanese version but now it's much better.

I like the japanese version best. It's almost the same as Nintendo's button set-up, along with the X-box and X-box 360's. So yeah, I have to say Japanese on this one.

    Japanese of course!
It is very traditional to have
    O as correct and
    X as incorrect.
I can't understand why the US put them the other way around.
    It's dum.

I can't really say. I use a macro controller, so it's pretty easy to do custom controls. I usually have R2 as Triangle (For reactions that require pressing it quickly) and L2 as Attack (Depending on FM or English) Because of this I'd have to say the Japanese Controls since X and [] are close together, making it easy to glide.

I'm used to the overseas way, so I prefer it, but I recently got a Japanese PS2 and I'm slowly getting used to their way too.

I'm used to the Japanese button configuration. I can't play KH with the buttons configured otherwise.

Well, I've been playing with the Japanese controls more lately, so I've gotten used to it. And I like more too.

I like both but I prefer the overseas version. Maybe if I imported Final Mix, I'd like it more but one of the only games I have that uses the Japanese controls is Zone of the Enders(1 and 2). Doesn't make much of a difference, really.
