    does anyone know what this thing that keeps popping up is?

    Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in /home/khvids/public_html/includes/functions.php on line 1916

    it keeps coming up whenever I try to go to the What's New? page but everywhere else just takes the usual, maybe a little longer time, to load. But for some reason this is taking forever and then this pops up?

    Been getting this error since morning very often.
    Code:
            // a really quick and rather nasty way of removing vbcode
            if ($fast_and_dirty)
            {

                    // any old thing in square brackets
                    $find[] = '#\[.*/?\]#siU';
                    $replace[] = '';

                   [color=green] $message = preg_replace($find, $replace, $message);[/color]
            }
    The highlighted line is line 1916 of functions.php.
    Now, what I'm thinking is this:

    Same problem, but with "New Posts", which is the same thing, although I don't get an error page. It loads, but the page doesn't appear.

    I've gotten it once when trying to access my userCP via the settings link.
    I actually haven't been able to access my userCP once successfully today though. :/

    I keep getting it trying to access the Roleplaying link. I've only gotten onto one rp and that was through my CP setting subscriptions... The what's new link also gives me this.

    Just for reference, these issues started yesterday, so at least they're still relatively new and haven't been here for weeks. :)

    Indeed I am, :P
    also...
    I should add that I can't seem to access the Role-Play arena either, now.
    Thankfully, I keep my role-plays open in pinned tabs. So I can access them still, but I get the fatal error message on the general Role-Play Arena area now too.

    Stay on topic, guys.
    We're aware this issue's been happening with the RP section, and it seemed to stop happening, but evidently that's not the case.
    Thanks for bringing it up.

    but what is it? Is it something wrong with the server like DBE's or is it something about the internet?

    I believe it has to do with the server, but what exactly I can't say.
    I've brought this thread up to the other staff members though, so hopefully an admin can answer this later.

    We know what's causing the issue and I'm fairly certain I know how to fix it as well, it's been happening intermittently for the past few days. Unfortunately the process to repair it may be quite server intensive, and we're unsure of what effect running it will have. We'll keep you updated~

    You could always take the "when not a lot of people are online" route.

    I'm not sure just how server intensive it is, though (I'm not an administrator =P), so it's just an opinion based on something you said before.

    Sooner or later you'll do it because perhaps the problem and the errors are more server intensive than the fix, and the database errors will become their parents. I suggest you do it now since there is no need to delay it. In the worst case there will be a few hours of downtime and the host will have to fix the server. And I'd rather that than the situation currently, as everything is slow- loading times and posting replies. If it's so difficult to do it because the risk is bigger than what I believe it is (but I don't know how much more dangerous it can get; it's not like unrepairable damage will happen), then I suppose we can have a poll that will be open for a few months until a decision is made. In the meantime we can study those errors, find the root of the problem and in the end- accept them.

    someone feels strongly about this. And I'm sorry if this is off topic, but I kinda feel the need to ask this. Would a website that was built by someone work better than a site that's running of a crudy server?

    I do believe they are working on it or at least looking into it so updates at this point seems rather unnecessary.

    lol
    Its not like someone can just code this place in html and move it somewhere else.

    Awkward loading

    I don't know if I'm the only one having this issue, but I can't load my User CP or view all my subscribed threads. Everything else loads incredibly slowly. This is the only site that my laptop is having issues with, so I'm pretty sure that it's not my laptop's fault. Is anyone else experiencing this? Can it be fixed?
