Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora hurried through the hall, his footsteps silent. And then, up ahead, he saw a man round the corner and into his hall. The guard saw them! Without thought, Sora chucked his Keyblade at him, hitting the man before he could summon the rest of the force. The teen rushed toward the guard, heart beating faster now. That was far too close for comfort.

 

"Go, go!" Roxas urged Kairi quietly, summoning Oblivion into his grasp. His senses were on high after entering this floor, and he was ready to take down someone Sora didn't see.

Kairi did as she was instructed, moving faster to follow Sora.

 

Sora looked down at him as he walked past; the man hadn't had any chance to call anyone--he was sure of that. But he still had an uneasy feeling in his stomach. He felt like the security on this floor was heavier than what he had seen before. The boy approached the corner and peeked his head around, seeing another man coming towards him. Again, he was spotted. He moved into the open without care about vulnerability and threw his Keyblade again, knocking the second guard unconscious like the first. The guards were so close together, so Sora knew Namine was very close-by.

 

After watching Sora have to launch his Keyblade again, Roxas glanced behind them to make sure they weren't spotted from behind. He didn't see anyone, but that didn't mean he didn't feel anyone's presence. His instincts were definitely kicking in, despite the quietness of the hallway.

 

Sora's Keyblade reappeared in his hand the moment before it would have clattered to the ground. This was so risky, but there was no other way to move. He stuffed the gadget into his pocket and summoned his other Keyblade, hurrying down this new hall. He memorized what was next, and he was ready for it. He didn't know what he was going to do exactly, but he knew what to expect this time.

 

Roxas peeked around the corner, keeping Kairi close. He watched as Sora ran down the hall, furrowing his eyebrows. Sora left him in the rear in case something like this would happen, to protect Kairi if he had to run up ahead. But hopefully there wouldn't be too much commotion, or there would be reinforcements, and Roxas would have to handle the guards that came up the stairs and to the hall.

 

Three men in this hall. One of them would be standing right by Namine's door. The other two would be coming toward him from opposite directions. He had to wait till they were all close or else one of them would have time to call for backup. He peeked around one side and calculated the time it would take for them to be within his reach. 3....2...1...He ran out and knocked the two walking guards in the head before throwing his Keyblade at the doorman, stabbing him in the heart.

 

Roxas heard the soft thuds of two people hitting the floor. He glanced behind him to make sure Kairi was still with him, free of danger. They were close now--he could feel it.

 

Sora turned around in time to see Roxas and Kairi coming down the hall towards him. He made his Keyblades disappear before he turned away, and knelt down by one of the guards. He grunted and gripped his arm, pulling him around a corner. He knew nobody else was in the area, but if somebody came to Namine's room and saw the bodies, they would know something was wrong. He dragged the man's body around the corner and then went back for the second.

 

Roxas urged Kairi to go on ahead, following behind her while making sure to listen for other footsteps. In a few seconds they ended up where Sora was. Roxas could feel something within him begin to burn--the heart he knew he had, but others tried to convince him didn't exist. Namine was close, and when his eyes fell on the door, the beat of that heart jumped.

 

Sora finished with the second man before turning back for the third. The moment he saw Roxas's facial expression, he approaching his friend. He put a hand on his shoulder and whispered in his ear. "One guard. Don't know where. Namine's in there. Go, I'll be behind you."

 

Roxas turned his head to Sora and nodded once in understanding. His eyes then found the door and he approached it, but not before stopping. He looked at the base of the door, staring at it. His senses were still high, which meant that guard was very, very closeby.

 

Sora moved his gaze from Roxas to Kairi, seeing her standing nearby. "Stay with him," he told her through his heart. "I'll be behind you." He needed to take away the guard that was right by the door before he could go in with his friends.

 

Kairi let her sight fall on Sora, nodding at the words that reached her heart.

Roxas arched an eyebrow, tilting his head to the side as he stared up at the door. After a second he turned, placing his ear against the door. He listened carefully, but didn't hear a thing. The boy let his eyebrows furrow on his forehead, not making any sense of what was going on here. His gut was telling him something was wrong, and Sora even said there was one more guard nearby. But, where was he?

 

Sora gave Kairi a weak smile before turning to look at Roxas again, wondering exactly what he was doing. Sora was all for caution and all, but it wasn't that hard to knock out a guard in an enclosed room. Something else must have been going through his head...

 

Maybe it wasn't even the guard thing bothering him... Something else was causing the knot in his stomach. Namine?! he thought, panicked. The thought alone scared Roxas enough to cause his adrenaline to take over, the boy pushing the door open quickly. There was a gasp and from his right he saw a guard right beside him. Roxas swung Oblivion without hesitation, the blade coming in contact with the guard and hitting him in the head.

 

Sora's eyes widened slightly at Roxas' sudden movement. But he wasn't nervous for his friend; more curious about what exactly caused his rashness. Whatever it was, he was sure it had to be related to his concern for Namine.

 

Roxas watched with piercing blue eyes as the guard fell to the floor, unconscious or dead--he didn't care. Because when his eyes scanned the room, they were no longer fierce; the look inside them transformed into panic and fear, but also relief at the sight before him. There was Namine, asleep on the bed. "Namine!" he cried in relief, rushing toward her.

 

Sora moved and grabbed onto the last guard, starting to pull him to the same location where the other two were. It sounded like Roxas had things under control in there, so he wasn't worried about that. He was more worried about them being caught before they could escape now.

 

Kairi quickly entered the room at the name, her eyes turning toward the direction Roxas had disappeared into the room. When she saw her friend standing next to the blonde girl, she rushed over.

Roxas looked her over, making sure she didn't have any injuries. With a sigh of relief, he realized there weren't any. "Namine," he called gently. "Namine, wake up. It's me, Roxas."
