Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi's gaze lowered to the bed, silently agreeing. That would be a good reason to ask if something was wrong. She was just so tired and weak, and she wasn't exactly sure why. Ever since Smith took her and Namine to the Realm of Darkness, she felt worse and worse.

 

"What's wrong?" Sora asked softly, his hands by his sides as he looked to the girl on the bed. He wasn't sure what she was sick with, but if he could, he would get her some medicine to help her feel better.

 

Kairi moved her hand by her face to the mattress, slowly pushing herself up. She kept a hand there to hold herself up, her legs out to the side of her with the covers still over them. "I don't really know," she admitted softly, looking down at the sheets. "I just feel really...weak and tired."

 

"...When'd you start feeling like this?" Sora asked, observing Kairi's movements before his eyes went back up to her face. He had a bad feeling about what her answer would be, since the thought had crossed his mind earlier. Still, he wouldn't jump to conclusions; he would wait for Kairi's answer before he thought things over.

 

Kairi's eyes moved to Sora's at the question, meeting his soft gaze. "...When we were in the Realm of Darkness," she told him, a bad feeling coursing through her when she spoke the words. It had something to do with how she was feeling, she just knew it.

 

"I was afraid you'd say that," Sora confessed softly, a quiet breath leaving his lips as he dropped his gaze to the ground for a few moments. It made sense to him...He had been weaker in that realm, so he should have expected the same from the girls. Well, especially Kairi, considering that she held Pure Light in her heart.

 

Kairi nibbled on her lip a little, her eyes lingering on Sora before dropping to the bedsheets. People of the Light were weaker in the Realm of Darkness, right? Having a heart of Pure Light, she was probably heavily affected as well... She didn't like the thought, but it was a possibility.

 

"That realm naturally weakens people, but it's probably worse for you because of your Light," Sora explained, lifting his eyes to Kairi when he was done speaking. He wished that weren't the case, but no matter how badly he wanted to change things, he couldn't. That was reality.

 

Kairi nodded, looking up at Sora before her eyes fell back to the bed. He had just confirmed her suspicions, which she didn't like. But there was nothing they could do. She would most likely have to recover on her own, since they were back in the Realm of Light again.

 

"Give it a day, though, and you should feel better," Sora said, offering Kairi a faint smile in reassurance. He wasn't feeling any lingering effects of that realm, so he was sure that it would wear off of Kairi sometime soon. At least, he hoped that was the case.

 

Kairi looked up at the words and nodded again. "Okay," she replied softly, a weak smile appearing on her face at the one on Sora's. She would probably just go home and relax. Taking it easy was her best bet right now.

 

Sora kept his faint smile on his lips as he pushed himself up, though his eyes stayed on Kairi. "How about I go get your coat and shoes? I'll take you home," he offered. She didn't look like she was in any condition to walk by herself, or at all. He would be happy to take her to her house, where she could rest and fully recover.

 

Kairi's weak smile dimmed a little, but mostly because she couldn't find the energy to keep it there. "Alright. Thank you," she said softly, looking up at Sora. He was being so kind, and she really appreciated it.

 

Sora nodded faintly, the weak smile staying on his lips. He turned and started for the doorway, trusting that Kairi would wait for him to return with her shoes and coat. He hoped she wouldn't try to go out to the living room and meet him halfway; that wouldn't have turned out well, since she was feeling so weak.

 

Kairi watched Sora go in silence. She knew that going home would be the best thing for her to do right now, considering her condition. She wished that wasn't the case; she wanted Sora to stay and relax at home, instead of taking her to do the same. That wasn't fair.

 

Sora walked through the hall and into the living room, seeing Riku still watching the television. "Kairi isn't feeling well," he informed Riku, the teen pausing in the living room to tell him what was up. "I'm going to take her home." It was a few blocks walk, which he hoped that Kairi could handle.

 

Riku looked up, his aqua eyes growing concerned at the news. "What's the matter?" he asked without thought, wanting to know what was wrong with his best friend.

Kairi looked away from the door once Sora was gone, catching onto murmured voices though she couldn't make them out. Regardless, she put her weight against her hand that was on the mattress, using the other to pull the covers back. She moved her legs and moved them over the edge of the bed, preparing to get up that way it would be easier to get going.

 

"She's feeling pretty weak," Sora responded, easily picking up the concern in his best friend's voice. Riku may have acted like a tough guy sometimes, but when he was worried about his friends, he couldn't really hide it.

 

"Oh..." Riku lowered his sight for a minute. That wasn't good, and he could only pin it on Smith and where he took her. He wasn't an idiot; the Realm of Darkness made those from the Realm of Light weaker if they weren't accustomed to the Darkness. That was obviously what happened.

Kairi let her feet touch the floor, the fatigue setting in even more now that she was actually sitting upright on her own. She sat there for a minute, trying to clear the slight dizziness in her head. Whatever the Realm of Darkness did to her, she definitely didn't like it.

 

Sora nodded once, realizing by Riku's reaction that he understood what was going on. He was sure that Riku didn't have any questions or anything that he was going to say aloud, so he started for the foyer, where Kairi's shoes and coat were.
