Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Riku kept his gaze on Sora for a moment, wondering what his friend was thinking about, but he decided to leave it alone and instead turned his eyes to the television screen. It was nearly noon, and his other best friend was still asleep. Kairi must have really needed the rest to sleep this long...

 

"I'm gonna go check on Kairi," Sora said, deciding that he would see if she was alright or not. He set his hands on the couch beside him and carefully pushed himself up, not wanting to cause any of his wounds to ache more than they already were.

 

"Alright." Riku glanced at Sora for a second before leaning back in his chair, eyes returning to the T.V. He decided to let his thoughts drop for now. After all, what good would they do him now that he was staying here?

Kairi rolled over in her sleep, slowly starting to come out of it. She'd been sleeping for a while now if all of the hours were added together, but it could only be blamed on how weak she felt. The Realm of Darkness had done something to her, but hopefully it would fade away soon.

 

Sora didn't stretch when he was on his feet, unwilling to risk it because of his ribs. He exhaled a soft breath and started towards the hall, the teen walking through the area so that he could get to his bedroom, where Kairi still was.

 

Kairi had a hand beside her face on the pillow, the girl facing the direction of the door to Sora's room. Sora left her to sleep again about an hour ago, but that was all she really needed; her sleep was lightening with every minute that passed by.

 

Sora approached the end of the hall, making sure that his steps were light so that he wouldn't awaken Kairi, if she was still asleep. He put a hand on the knob of his bedroom door and turned it, quietly opening the door and stepping inside the room.

 

Kairi took in a quiet breath, at the same time believing she heard a noise nearby. The door maybe? She didn't open her eyes, still trying to come to her senses before doing that.

 

Sora didn't bother closing the door again, his eyes set on Kairi in his bed. His eyes softened, the brunet believing that she was still asleep. That actually made him feel more concerned, though; why was she so tired? This was unlike her, sleeping the day away.

 

Kairi's eyebrows furrowed a little bit as she continued to wake up, moving her head a little. She sensed a gentle presence, and felt something familiar to the feeling of somebody looking at her. But it was gentle, and she took in a breath as she slowly opened her eyes halfway. She saw somebody standing near the door, but closed her eyes again to try and wake herself up more now that she had company.

 

Sora blinked, having thought he saw Kairi open her eyes a little bit. He started over towards the bed, his eyes staying on the girl who was lying under the covers. "You awake, Kai?" he asked softly, just in case she really wasn't conscious and she was still asleep.

 

"Mm-hm," Kairi hummed in response, the girl bringing her hand next to her face up to rub at one of her eyes. Sora. She should have known. She could never mistake that voice or the gentle presence for anyone else.

 

Sora stopped by the bed, kneeling down by the side of it on the side that Kairi was facing. She must have just woken up, juding by how tired she still appeared to be. Was it just grogginess, though? Or was she feeling ill?

 

Kairi lowered her hand back down to the pillow, opening her eyes fully even though they were still heavy from sleep. "What time is it?" she asked groggily, seeing Sora closer to her now. She wasn't sure what time it was when she was awake earlier, but she was still curious.

 

"Around noon," Sora responded softly, his eyes staying on Kairi's. He hadn't checked the time before he came back; he just knew that it was almost afternoon, if it wasn't already.

 

"Oh," Kairi groaned, furrowing her eyebrows as she shut her eyes again. She couldn't believe she'd slept so late! She was usually up and moving around by ten most days.

 

Sora tiltled his head to the side slightly, keeping his eyes on the girl in front of him. "You feeling alright?" he asked gently, his voice encouraging her to tell the truth. She didn't quite look right to him...

 

Kairi opened her eyes, her sight immediately falling on Sora once more. By the look in his blue eyes and the sound of his voice, he wanted nothing but the truth from her. Remember the wall, she told herself, recalling what she and Sora had discussed earlier, when she first started feeling odd. Kairi shook her head a little as she continued to lie down. "No, not really," she replied honestly.

 

"I didn't think so," Sora said with a soft sigh, the teen having somehow known it when he saw her earlier. He lifted his hand and tucked back a little bit of Kairi's hair, even though she still had her head on the pillow.

 

Kairi released a soft breath, her gaze staying on Sora when he moved her hair back. "That obvious, huh?" she said softly. She wasn't feeling...sick, really. She felt weaker than normal, if anything. Obviously Sora could tell, though she wasn't sure how.

 

"Not really," Sora said honestly. "It's just unlike you to sleep in this late." That, and she appeared differently than she normally did; he juts couldn't put his finger on it, but something was different about her facial expression. He wondered,though, what kind of sickness she was feeling.
