I don't know the difference sometimes. Do we live in reality or a giagantic fantasy?
It could be as simple as believing in something thats not there, or hearing what doesn't speak. Control by a higher power, or being ignorant to what is obviously a lie.
What makes it so fake and fantastical that it's not something real?

I think (personally) that reality and fantasy are just people's perceptions and are somehow related to how they were brought up... Some people believe in that which is either supernatural or religious and others believe it nothing but fantastic stories, as they may have been brought up without a religious influence... Some people might also think that reality is really the fantasy and so they may believe in "What my eye does not see does not exist." (Can't remember what that is called though) Reality is usally defined as something that can be seen, felt and such, which reflects or involves our senses... Fantasy is usually connected to dreams and such and is therefore usually defined as something that may not have a basis on the basic rules of nature and such...

Mind you, Im only half awake so I don't know what Im typing...

I actually thought about this after a movie like Cloverfield.
Anything is possible, quoted from most Old People.
I mean, this is the world we're talking about. We've invented so many things, so many accomplishments; and yet we're supposably 'stopped' by the big flat screen in front of our faces.
I still think there could be a way to bring these fantasies to life. We just have to find it.

I think that we live in our own reality, or how we see the world, wich can include our fantasies and our dreams. So it depends on the person and how they view the world.

...to tell whether we live in a fantasy or barely making it up is hard to tell really...
but i feel as if we would live without fantasy, our hope for a bright future would diminish and furthermore... gods were all created through fantasizing...
    i'm not saying that people shouldn't believe....however...
it is foolish to deny the knowledge of all gods through history and what they stood for...
the amazing part of fantasy is how we deal with it and what we do to keep the unimaginable possible...
who knows... things one have dreamt of have become possible through science and technology...
i consider life a gift and something that must be cherished and looked after...
yet i sometimes dream of a life completely different from my own...
ah...um...but...that's just me saying a few things...
    ...sorry...

I commend everyone who answered. I didn't write down anything straight forward, and it's something you actually had to think about at some degree.

THe question is just basically 'Are we able to know the difference between the reality that we experience and the fantasies we experience?'
I agree that most of the time it is an individual perspective, however other times we are influenced by other factors, eg the media.
Did you know that still on average a common flu has killed more people in the last months than the swine flu has been able to? Yet still the threat that Swine flu is the deadliest of all influenzas and will 'surely' kill us all.
THe idea of it being so widespread and dangerous at this moment is a fantasy, and not the reality of what it really is. We fear the predictions that it could kill over half of the population, yet still this is a 'fantasy', and most people believe this will be the affects, however none of the general public can grasp the reality of the situation, that it is still not the deadlist illlness we can contract.
I'm just trying to sat that the two aspects of reality and fantasy are not easy to tell apart, and used the Swine flu as an example. It is why are ask if we are capable of telling the difference.
