ok, well listen, I know that this definatly isn't that big compared to a lot of the other help with life threads, but atm, I need to ask somewhere since the only thing google gives me is how to say falling asleep in spanish >.>
but anyways, so every time I hear spanish, read spanish, or write spanish, I literally just begin to get drowsy IMMEDIATLY! It started a few months ago after I went to do this thing in the computer lab where we had to listen to a computerized voice to help us out with spanish or something, and by the time I got out of there, I had been struggling so hard to stay awake that my eyes were cracked and everyone thought I was high...
thats besides the point. So I need help with figuring out why I start getting sleepy during spanish (and I already tested. its not due to lack of sleep, thats a definate), and how to keep myself from falling asleep...

So give meh some help, will ya?

Well, I can tell you this: I, personally, get bored out of my SKULL during ANY foreign language class. I have taken 2 semesters of high school Latin, 1 of high school Spanish, and 2 of college Spanish, and it was HELL trying to stay awake in any of them. I recommend, since I don't know why you're falling asleep: Get a tape recorder (or a digital recorder - even better), and record the class so you can take notes on it later on your own time. That way, even if you fall asleep, you won't miss anything.

This is going to sound silly but perhaps you should try to find a clip of a Spanish speaker with a really shrill voice and play it very loud. :p It may not help, but what have you got to lose?

If you are falling asleep in class....go to bed earlier.

From the original post - it's not lack of sleep. Probably it's the fact that ANY foreign language is probably the most boring subject you'll ever take.

What time do you have your Spanish class? I'm not going to say it's because of sleep (or lack thereof), but maybe it has something to do with your metabolism. For example, I have several classes at college that run into mealtimes, and as such, I crash because my body says "Foooooood i needz it nao...."

So try smuggling a snack that you can nibble on into class and see what that does. If that's not it, let me think a little more.

I was going to suggest having a tape recorder on so you don't completely miss the lecture, but what if you fall asleep listening to that later on?

Well, with a tape recorder, you can pause it if you get too bored.

    Spanish class?

All i can tell you is that we have foregein language classes aswell and they're also very, very boring. And i know how you feel when you get all drowsy -trust me. But as advice just ask if you can change to another language class if there is any. Otherwise, if i were you i'd just skip the lesson or bludge and ask a friend later on what the homework is.

It could be the subject and what your learning in Spanish class. I felt the same way you do when I was in math class. I got plenty of sleep. Everyone has a subject they dislike the most. Spanish might be yours which is why you fall asleep during it.

thnx for the advice everyone. To just get it out there

Yes, I find spanish EXTREMELY boring, since I never wanted to take it in the first place

and I get plenty of sleep. Unless I need to start getting 9 hours of sleep instead of 8 (which I highly doubt), then I'm pretty sure that I'm good sleep wise

Nah. In fact, although I'm not particularly recommending this, I can get by well on 6 hours, as long as I don't do anything strenuous the previous day.
