Assuming this is the right place.

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the functions of the F(number) keys on my keyboard, because I need to use them for the likes of Minecraft and such.

For example, I want to go into 3rd-Person View, but to that I need to hit F5, but the FF5 key on my laptop has the function of turning off the monitor's backlight completely and does this instead of going into 3rd-Person View.

I'm using Windows 7, assuming it matters (though it probably doesn't)

Well I looked up some things for you since I don't play minecraft. Usually programs overrun the other properties of the F-keys, but you are on a laptop. Try Holding the "fn" key and pressing "F5". If this doesn't work for you, I will gladly continue my hunt to get your problem solved :D
