I personally believe that there is a god, and that most the religions in the world believe in the same god, but in a different variation.

Could you explain that a bit more?

Anyway, I still believe that there are no higher powers; especially not God since the Bible is a collection of other cultures' myths. Mainly from Mesopotamia.

You claim these stories are untrue because they were passed down from older civilizations? I personally only believe that some loosely defined sections of the bible are actually true (you never know, what with human corruption and centuries of passing down and all), but it's still worth throwing that out there.

You know, I've actually thought about this quite a bit myself. What if it there was one god, but different cultures interpreted that one god differently, thus creating a whole slew of varying religions? That would certainly throw a wrench into the works...

I believe there is something, but I don't think it is something that we as humans can fully understand yet.

I don't believe in the God/Gods that exist in religions because I find religion to be a form of control that is both hypocritcal and contradictory, but I don't think we are completely alone.

This may be because I really don't want to accept that there is nothing.

I'm finding it hard to respect your beliefs even though I think your actually a decent person. I for one can still enjoy life believing that there might not be a god, or something else out there. That there might not be a point to anything.

The different things we tell ourselves to give our lives meaning, all delusions. Yet we happily embrace them. If being spiritual works for you, I guess I'm okay with that. I'm no different.

I live my life trying to make a difference, no matter how small. Even while knowing that it might not matter in the end.

Re-watching The Matrix Reloaded, I came upon this quote, "Hope. It is the quintessential human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness."

This could be said to anyone, even you.

No one said you couldn't. (Well maybe the more extreme religious people, but even they need to be knocked down a notch)
But what's so bad about believing there is something else out there? That there actually is a point?

The problem is when other people aren't okay with that. You don't think any gods exist, but you're okay with someone being spiritual. I think God does exist, I'm okay with you not believing in Him because I do, the majority of my friends and family do. I hate religion being pushed on people. Even as a Christian I hate when radicals push Christianity on me. But I still talk to my religious friends about it. I mention it to my non-religious friends about it, may not the way the Bible says to (I'm not a big bible fan, by the way), but if someone doesn't want to hear it, then I won't talk about it. I may mention in respect to myself, but I won't be all "Yo, come to church. Don't want you burning in Hell," rather than "Yeah, I was at church yesterday and someone said this joke," etc. Hell, I'll even admit, especially in politics, Atheists are more objective than Theists and I think that's a good thing.
So what if it does matter in the end? What if that small difference you made amounts to something you never expected when it's all over? It might not, but it might. Some think it won't, some think it will. I, personally believe it will.
Won't disagree with this. Hope/faith is good and it's bad.

This I actually find quite rude. I don't always agree with what other people believe, but I do respect their beliefs. Regardless of the kind of person they are.

Well I am happy for you, same as I am happy for those who believe in God and enjoy their life. Being able to enjoy life with the beliefs you have is how it should be in my opinion. I'd be more worried if you didn't enjoy life.

I don't need to believe that there is or isn't something else to enjoy my life. I enjoy my life with an open mind. Believing that there may be something more doesn't hold my life back or hinder it in any way. I personally think being closed minded (whether an extreme religious person or an extreme athiest) can blind a person.

Nobody has the right answer, because nothing is definite fact when it comes to beliefs, thats why they are beliefs xD

I also try to make a difference, I do it to help others and the world that I live in. I am aware it may not matter in the end, but it doesn't hold me back. I don't aim to make a difference to please whatever being there is out there.

I always liked that quote xD
