Oh, lol. I only posted this thread because Toomey won. I wasn't talking about the election as a whole, just the one in my state.

State level, federal level, or both? I ask because I'm a state level democrat and a federal level republican. The federal government has no business deciding what I do. The state government, on the other hand, is closer to my situation and thus has more of a right to act on me. That's why I hate federal income tax. The feds should be concerned with taxing the states and letting them decide how to get that money from the people.
    Then just leave your state?

Were you speaking to a Canadian? We would exaggerate that.

But an hour or so at a busy clinic, or call your family doctor a few days to a week before you want an appointment, and badaboom badabing.

Why I'm upset is because I don't think there is gonna be a big change. Republicans and Democrats will bicker back and forth, doing their best to mess with the other party, in stead of actually working together to make the country a better place. Only now the Republicans will have lowder people doing the bickering.

That's not why it's bad. This health care plan takes away your right to not buy health care. If I want health care, then I'll buy it and I probably will anyway. However, if I don't want health care, like some of my family members who enjoy saving money and simply keep a bank account for matters that would go to health insurance, then I don't want to pay a $250 fine to not have a service. Do you now see why it is bad? It's like minimum wage, which takes away your right to work for less and thus have a competitive edge over other job applicants.

That's actually how it'll be. Except Republicans will get somethings done, whether they're good or bad. The Democratic Party's problem is that they try to cater to a broad spectrum of people without pissing off any of them, but with such a broad spectrum, there's no way everyone's going to be satisfied with a decision. (For example, if they try to reform the education system by extending school hours, parents of children who want a better education will be happy about it. Certain teachers may not, for having their work day extended). Democrats need...a spine.
Because not everyone is able to have a bank account for emergencies like that? Who was it that said "health care is a human right?" There are some people, like me, that would have to quit school and work to pay off a hospital bill if I so much as break a leg.
Who's bothering you? MAYBE YOU'RE BOTHERING US, KUBO....GO WRITE BLEACH OR SOMETHING. (I couldn;'t think of a better joke for your name ; ;)

This is a momentous occasion. This is the first time I agree with anything political you've said.

So you're okay with the government forcing EVERYBODY to buy health insurance just because you need it? Maybe I don't want to buy health insurance. Are you saying that I do not have the right to decide whether or not I should buy health insurance? Are you saying that people are too stupid to decide for themselves what they need and what they don't? Are you saying that I should have to pay a fine because I don't want to spend money on something for which I may or may not feel the need to buy? Because that's what it sounds like you're saying. The federal government has no business in what I buy and what I don't. I guarantee you that if this law stays in effect for long enough we will eventually become a command economy of teh socialist form.
    You're right, this is awesome.

    Overreaction much?
Take a look at some of the countries that offer full health coverage for "insured persons". Ireland, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, The Netherlands, Australia, the list goes on. Not that bad of places, yknow.

That's overblown, but free healthcare is generally bad healthcare. I know someone from Hungary(where they have free healthcare) who did have to wait in a room for five hours to see a doctor about her carpal tunnel. But he told her that her hand was fine. Later when she came to the US she got it looked at by non-free healthcare and they told her she should have had surgery years ago.

Also small businesses are being taxed ENORMOUSLY by this healthcare thing, I know at least 5 previous small business owners who had to go out of business thanks to that bill. Meanwhile corporations like McDonald's are paying a (relatively) MUCH smaller amount. And Obama says he wants to tax the rich. Hmph.

Also extremely upset that Jerry Brown won.

I'm not talking about universal health care, which I do agree is okay. I'm talking about the so christened "Obama-care" in which you are required to buy health care whether you need/want it or not. All I'm saying is that the feds have no business deciding what I do and don't buy.

Finnish health care works fairly good, and it's free. I've gotten an appointment to a doctor, or had to wait only a short time when I really needed to (bad illnesses, food-based allergy attacks that affect me quicker, minorish injuries from car accidents...)
Although I'll admit that I've had to wait ridiculously long times when the situation isn't quite as acute. I think the longest waits I've had were about 8 hours to get treatment for an allergic reaction to penicillin (I only had a skin reaction, so it wasn't that bad), and another time nearly nine hours when I twisted my ankle...

I'm not as well-informed about American politics, but you just put my exact thoughts on the whole matter into words.
And as far as my guess for the productivity issue goes; I'd put my money on the latter. Perhaps the Republicans will prioritize the reversal of sensitive Democrat laws before actually putting something new on the table...and by then the time may have come for another election round already. XD Politics does suck.

I feel your pain, mate. At least you have a government. XD
