i've had evil sock monkey dreams since i was 5...its always trying to kill me...with a knife...sometimes it rides a toy rocking horse i got when i was 9...it effectively left me scared of sleep when i was a kid...and of all my toys due to their usage in my dreams...

i still have these dreams from time to time and they still wake me up in tears...i'm 21 yrs old...and this is starting to become silly...i've been seeing a psychiatrist about this...but he just keeps telling me dreams have no meaning...i'm not asking for a meaning to my dream...i'm asking for a way to stop them...nights when i have them i'm unable to sleep once i wake up...

and its not just the monkey in the dream...the entire time i'm filled with an intense fear that borderlines psychotic while in the dream and sometimes the dream is accompanied by the oft-cited Old hag style dream where you can't move and are filled with overwhelming fear

i'd really your thoughts on this... interpretations , nightmare prevention anything you have to say on it...i'm starting to get light headed throughout the day from lack of sleep...

sounds like you have an inernal fear of monkeys and socks....

    Suggestion:
    Don't eat candy or caffine after 7 p.m. or 6 p.m.
    thats how evil is....-__-
try not to watch movies not to scare you that will affect you at night....
if your heaving your mind on sdomething stop and relax....that is where your brain is worried and stressed out....
try watching funny shows that help(big bang or Glee of some sort)
    anything to make you laugh.....
try doing these before bed also talk to your docotor about this or your parents or an adult that you trust...K?

    Try to watch happy/funny movies
try not to think about the monkey (if you still have it throw it away)
try and hang out with your friends
never stay up at night >>
and put some realxing music on while your sleeping.

Why don't you try to do more during the day?
Sometimes if you're exausted, you won't dream at all.

Also, isn't there a kind of sleep medication that prevents dreams? I'm sure I've heard of it somewhere...
Maybe you could ask your doctor about something like that?

And think about happy things before you go to sleep.

Do you eat anything before going to bed? Sometimes you can have bizarre nightmares in your sleep based on what your body's digesting.

Also try light calisthenics before bed. If you are physically wiped out, you'll not only fall asleep faster, but you'll go into a deeper sleep that usually doesn't have dreams. Things like stretching, jumping jacks, maybe some yoga positions. Or, like Fearless said, try to be more active during the day so that by the time you are ready to hit the hay, you're zonked.

This is going to sound scary but....
Maybe your subconciousness is trying to tell you something. You might have done something or had a experience before your memories started that triggered these Nightmares.
To dream that you are being attacked by an animal, is a warning to be careful with those around you. Take notice of who you know in your waking like that shares and exhibits the same qualities of the animal that attacked you in your dream.

Question, are the Toys BROKEN in your dream? The ones that help the Evil Monkey doll?

Cool. Let me know how if that works; it's one of my favorite things to do if I feel like I can't get to sleep (because I can't do the warm milk thing; yay allergies!). Otherwise I think I might have another idea.

This may not help at all, but do you wear socks to bed? I've read it places and experienced it myself, I'm more likely to have... interesting dreams if I sleep with my socks on, haha.

I suggest getting a second opinion about these dreams.

If sleep depreviation has occurred because of the dreams and your current psychiatrist won't help because he just repeats the fact that dreams have no meaning then get a second opinion to see if there is something that can be done about it.

imo, if you put the nightmare off by putting yourself in a state where you don't dream then wouldn't the nigtmare just be delayed? If you've been having this nightmare for the last 16 years then this shows that it is difficult to outgrow. But then again I'm not a psychiatrist, so if the psychiatrist says something that contradicts this then he knows better about this topic XD

Being attacked by a monkey doll with mosiac toys in the background helping it.....

Well, the Monkey symbolizes deceit. People are working to advance their own interest. They also represent insight and intuition. Alternatively, monkeys also indicate an immature attitude, a playful nature and a mischievous side of your personality.
The Monkey doll that is alive, signifies your desires to be someone else and escape from your present problems and responsibilities.
The Monkey Doll is an animal so it is a warning to be careful with those around you. Take notice of who you know in your waking like that shares and exhibits the same qualities of the animal that attacked you in your dream.
And the Mosiac represents the various aspects and components that make up life as a whole. You need to consider things from a wider perspective. Things may look insignificant and meaningless, but you need to stand back and consider the overall picture.

Since the dream is recurring, your mind is trying to tell you something, making it scary to you pay attention more.

From what I'm getting, you need to look around more, pay attention to the people around you but be careful. You want to become someone new to maybe escape hardships in your life but in doing so you might miss out on the things you didn't realise you had in the first place. The help you already had but didn't notice.
