PAX East hasn't brought us much news of Kingdom Hearts aside from the first English trailer, but Square did a short interview with KINGDOM HEARTS Brand Manager Mat Kishimoto on KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX. Nothing new was discussed but, when asked about the chronology of the three included games, Kishimoto had a rather noticeable pause.

Check out the interview (beware, audio quality is kind of bad) and the highlights below.

Yeah, I'm not holding out for it either.

Side note: does anyone else think that Kishimoto could make a rather convincing Brock in a live action Pokémon movie?

The chronology isn't even what's hard to understand.

They should have asked him a brief summary of DDD, he wouldn't have even known what to say.

      dat sound quality

But anyway, besides the usual "Go to Wiki" or "Here's a character map," even I think that it's difficult to explain the story of the series in a brief, in-person interview. The appeal this series has as a whole has to a casual crowd of gamers might be lacking somewhat (besides the Disney aspect, of course).

He wasn't asked for the story of the series, just to put KH1, CoM, and 358/2 Days (the games included in this HD package) in chronological order. It's not that difficult. KH1-->CoM-->Days. As a brand manager, he clearly failed on that regard, where even the interviewer knew better than him

Not only that, but he put them in consecutive order, when Days actually overlaps with CoM. P:

Ha this is true. I suppose it should've been something like:
"You follow the story of the main character in the series, Sora, who fights the Heartless across different Disney worlds to defeat a terrible darkness in KH1. CoM picks up immediately after the first, where Sora now faces a new enemy, Organisation XIII, in a place where he begins to question whether his memories are real or not. Meanwhile, as CoM is happening, you play as Roxas, a member of the Organisation, as he tries to find out who he is and the strength of his friendships."

I don't know about you guys, but usually these PR people prepare this stuff beforehand?

That's why I'm generally surprised he didn't have cue cards or catchphrase to cover his arson the topic.
      Unfortunate PRing.

quote from video 'just released a English trailer'' i wouldn't call it an English trailer if it had final mix Japanese text in it lol xD so basically its not a true English trailer just a sample trailer.

That's not good...I hope they won't create a "Time Distortion" in the next games for their uncertainty...

I haven't seen the interview yet (problems with the line), but this comment makes me inquiring!

Correct for the most part, but I think it's easier to play them in order of KH, Re:CoM, Days, b/c you're going directly from Sora to Sora, then he goes to sleep, and you don't have to think about him til AFTER 358/2 Days is said and done, they overlap, yeah, but not in any urgent "what's happening over there?" way if you play it like that. It's "oh, I know what Axel's doing right now, he'll be back" not to mention its ending sits right next to KH2's beginning. (only reason I'd play it in different order is if you wanted to feel almost as dumbfounded as Sora, where the most recent thing you remember is Sora going to sleep lol) Also, I very much doubt that the cast is entirely returned to re-record everything. Richard Epcar will be replacing Billy Zane for good this time, I can almost guarantee. As long as Hayden Panettiere voices Kairi. If Alyson Stoner voices Xion again, I don't mind, it drives the point that she is on the edge of becoming her own self even further.

Actually the trailer revealed that Billy Zane's voice was actually kept in KH1. Plus Alyson Stoner does reprise her role as Xion.

Oh, I stand corrected. Huh. Surprising. Yay, more gusto than Epcar. Oh, really? Hayden voiced both Kairi & Xion in BBS' ending and such, I like that they split them up, Alyson Stoner did fine as Xion. Speaking of Alyson Stoner, is anyone else surprised Emily Osment has yet to voice-over a character in Kingdom Hearts?
