This is one of my favorite anime's. Not only that but I think it's very interesting. To whoever wants to discuss the show (or manga if there is one, I'm sure there is, though) or anything in relation to it then by all means. Shoot. Gah, my school bell just rang. I have to get to my next class. Ciao.
I went on a marathon to watch this series. Took me a few days, but I sat through all of it. A very good collection of characters, all of which have incredible chemistry. What I particularly liked was how many of the characters drastically changed from how they were at the beginning to how their were at the end. Usually this only happens to the main character, but there were quite a few. Renton changed the most, in my opinion, starting from an immature, lustful, rambunctious teenager to a sensitive, perservering and warm companion with a strong reseolve. Then there's Eureka, of course who went from a monotonous, clueless individual to someone who slowly but surely began to understand the things around her, and the things she loved and wanted to preserve. Although she had her doubts all the way through to the end of the series, I felt she made very good progress in terms of developing as the herione of the series. Besides those two, Talho and Holland also made very drastic changes (which really thrilled me because I really liked those two). Talho was your average promiscuous woman who didn't seem to take anything seriously, but then you learn more about her and watch as she tries to reform the life she always wanted from the very beginning. Starting off as someone who'd always tease Renton and make his life a living hell, she eventually became a very good confidant and often came to his defense later on in the series. And finally Holland. An initially quick-tempered, potty-mouthed, somewhat violent and apathetic person who was always self-centered and didn't care much for the feelings of those around him. He'd often ignore Renton's suggestions and always found a way to blame him for any misfortune that befell him or his team. But once at the turning point, Holland changed and became one of Renton's most loyal protectors, and let his true feelings finally show. He came to terms with his insecurities and addressed them pro-actively, and as a result, he became a much more loving and adaptative character that could truly be considered a great hero, much like Renton. There are others as well, although not as pronounced, but Doggie also changed quite a bit, starting from a character who felt he did nothing for the team, to the Gekko State's second best pilot. The three children Eureka takes care of also changed a little in their own respect. Very great storyline, albeit a little odd at times, but the amazing characters and very moving soundtrack overshadows these nuances and makes it more than liveable.
I would have left my beginning post with more description but I was rushed, I wouldn't have made it to my second period. Sorry for that, it's very unlike me. But anyway: *is shocked* ... what to say... What is there to say??? I can't do anything here but give you a standing ovation. That was a great piece. I want to say thanks for the time you spent on writing it. Everything you wrote, I completely agree. I probably couldn't, to the best of my ability, sum up such acute information from my head. You explained it wonderfully. I loved the anime and it did have it's odd points. I also loved how there wasn't just one character as it's protagonist. There were many of the characters, all of which I found incredibly interesting. As a psychology lover, I'd have to say this is one of the best shows to watch for mind churning thoughts. I'll backtrack to the first eppisode. I'm a hardcore fan and won't give any shame to the fact of me saying: That first eppisode had a huge impact on me. I haven't seen all the eppisodes yet, I'm still keeping up with [adult swim], so I can't say that it's my favorite eppisode quite just yet. But as it rolled out I couldn't shake the feeling that the show was going to be like unlike anyother that I've seen before. As the rest of them rolled out I saw how from a somewhat normal, boring, and incredibly dull lifestyle Renton had, and watched how he grew into a hero. I think other than Eureka and Renton's ongoing conflict... I'd have to say that Ray and Charles were my favorite duo that contributed to the show with gusto. I think that in comparison to the rest of Gekko State's drama, Charles and Ray impacted Renton's life indubitably. They took the psychologically wounded Renton in after his leave from Gekko State. I think that is when Renton underwent the most dramatic change. That is why Ray and Charles are one of my favorite characters. The soundtrack... simply amazing. My favorite track is Get It By Your Hands. It was Charles' favorite song and Ray played it on every frequency. *sigh* That, and I have the most interesting music prefrences for a 15-year-old. :D On a relating ending note: I named my iPod Renton. ^_^
Ditto. Any more discussion towards the show?? Shoot whatever pops into mind. Whether it be a drabble of mindless 'zomg-ness' or an astute speculation. Do eet.
AH! My eyes!!! Major spoilers!!! (Sorry, I haven't gotten to that part of the show yet, -_-'''''') But when I've seen 'em all. I am so watching that amv. It looks wicked.
