I belive that all who do not conform to a certain moral standard sould be regarded as second-class citizens.

I mean no offence to any ethnic groups as many lead full and good lives.

But the underbelly of every nation should be cut out. The thieves, rapists, killers, homosexuals, atheists etc. These people show no humanity and should be treated as such

Lol I see what you are doing. You are taking my own view points and turn them against me. Very well, I saw this coming.

Before any of this that I have suggested could come into force what is deemed as acceptable in society would need to be drawn up. This would of course be based on logic and fact. Things that are deemed and found to cause actual danger, harm or pain would be removed. I fail to see how homosexuals and atheists fall into that category, unless of course you have a head filled with nonsense.

Not all human beings are born socially equal.
Take the social classes they're born into, for example.
    Also varies by country.

Why shouldn't people be treated as equals to the person prior or beyond them?
Give me a scenario where this should apply.

As I said before, this applies mostly to criminal activity. I would like to think that I (and any other law abiding citizen) would be held "socially higher" than a convicted criminal.

I do realise that this idea requires A LOT of fine tuning xD Was just a passing thought from watching how well criminals are treated in jail etc.

If you think about it, that's already the case. Who would you trust more: a convicted rapist or the Pope? (Wait, you're atheist, so that may not work...lol)

Trust between individuals is not what I was implying, I was talking about in terms of the law.

Just because I'm atheist doesn't mean I would necessarily distrust the Pope =P But the current Pope requires a lot to be desired.

Well,I say that. For all people, like in school. The popular kids, and the not so popular kids. That's bull.People should be treated equally, not because of race, what you look like, and how you speak. You are you,and you can't help it.

    By reading all of the posts in this thread... are you suggesting that people's place in society is judged by their past and the wrong things they did? That's what I'm getting out of this so far... -_-;

Not completely. People change, I realize that. However, a criminal shouldn't be treated exactly the same as someone who has never committed a crime. There should be repercussions for their actions. Although someone might change, if they're committed a serious crime in their life, that shouldn't be completely brushed off.

However, I think the original point of this thread was that we make jails too nice for criminals, considering the fact that they're criminals. We kinda got a little off topic. Am I right, Bunterx?

Yeah, you are xD It didn't get that far off track. I think the main problem was that I used the word "socially" meaning the laws of society. But people interpreted as socially as in trusting or liking the people.

I don't quite understand. Is this not already the case? Criminals loose the ability to vote and their freedom for a short period, and they gain a black mark on their record. They may then be unable to travel internationally, they may be barred from taking on certain jobs and they may not be allowed to live in certain places due to victims or prey (e.g. Schools if you are a pedophile) living there.

That's only the legal side. If I'm a convicted chilld rapist, I will be ostracized by my neighbours. People will not want to know me and I will be scum on their shoes. People will always be wary of me and I will be a social outcast.

So in many ways, what you desire is already in effect. It seems to me that what you want is these people to loose more. Any idea what, apart from their food?

This was basically started when I learned that the reason criminals are being given lighter sentences than they should be getting (many of them not even receiving a prison sentence) was because our prisons are full. The reason more prisons were not built is because it costs too much money per prisoner to keep them. I thought, right that makes sense.
Then I heard why prisons cost so much. They have gyms, some even have swimming pools. They are often treated better in jail than they are outside. This can't be right.

Really what I am referring to is their rights and treatment while in jail. As you have already mentioned, there are already many consequences for their actions.

I just remembered, another case was a "yob" who was chased by police after shoplifting (I think it was shoplifting >_>) until he got on to the roof of a house. Because of "human rights" the police couldn't do anything but sit around and wait for him to come down. He was throwing bricks from the chimney stack at them (causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage), they had a helicopter watching him (costing thousands of pounds) and he even had the cheek to demand that they buy him food and cigarettes (which they did, otherwise they might be "abusing" him). Surely this is taking the piss.
