im on both sides. english and japanese animes are both pretty good, depending on the anime. still, if one anime were to make it big in America which one would you guys like to see?

I honestly see no difference between English and Japanese anime dubs (aside from the fact that I can't understand one of them without subtitles) and it really annoys me when people make such a big damn deal about the English version being "terrible." Unless you understand Japanese, and understand the nature of the language and the flow of how it's spoken, I don't see why you would prefer it over English dubbing. You can't fully appreciate it if you're looking at the bottom of the sceen half the time, not to mention the subtitles block part of the video. Some people say they prefer the authentic Japanese, you know what I prefer? Being able to look away from the screen for a few seconds and still understand what's happening. I can somewhat sympathize if the person started watching the series when it was only out in Japanese, and then didn't like the English version. However, if you give it time, you'll get used to the English voices, chances are they're not bad, just different, so don't be stubborn.

Sorry about the rant, it was a bit uncalled for.

As for your question, I don't really understand it. You mean an anime that was created in America, or one that was dubbed well. Either way, if it's good, I'll watch it. I haven't seen a single decent American Anime (Totally Spies and Martin Mistery are practically like brain poison) but I would certainly be open to the idea. In fact, it would give me a little more respect for this country.

For me I can't understand Jap at all only like the simpliest words. . anyways. . I kinda find the english voice actors kinda annoying. . IMO. But hey that's just me. I only watch the english because I understand it but I also like the japanese versions because. . I dunno you get the orginality from since it was made by the Japanese. =/

I agree, if I were fluent in Japanese, I might prefer it. But I'm not, so I don't =_=; I think in most animes, the English voices are pretty good, aside from a few, like Pokemon, though I don't exactly watch it anymore so it doesn't affect me XD Sometimes I get the feeling that people will watch (or say they watch) Japanese anime just so people will think they're cool or something, which is stupid because it dosn't make a difference on how other people see you. If you prefer the Japanese version, that doesn't bother me. However, when people completely bash the English version (unless it really is crappy), that's when I get mad.

I prefer Japanese. As long as it has subs.

in response to the totally spies/martin mystery thing, i agree. that stuff is just......i think rat poison for the soul would work here. as for me, it depends on how i started watching the show. i cant watch an anime in english and switch to japanese cause then for some reason i feel like i dont know the characters. its almost a comfort thing.

If there's an English dub available for an anime, I'll most likely watch that instead of the original. Sometimes I prefer the dubs better than the subs anyway. o:

I'd most likely watch subs, always. Not only are most of the VA's for dub anime extremely annoying, it gets repetitive when they you watch quite a few anime and notice the exact same person from a previous anime is in another.. and they sound totally the same :x That may happen in Japan also, but I never notice, since I can't understand xD The subs VA's seem to put more feeling into their roles, also.

I also like the fact that they swear in most anime, even if I can't understand it, tis on the subs xD They usually cut that out in the dubs. A good example for this would be Naruto :\ It's so lame.

Usually I prefer watching anime with Japanese voicing and English subs. I think I'm able to get more out of it that way, plus lots of anime have the tendency of saying something odd or inappropriate and I would rather my family not overhear <<

My only exception is when an anime is so long that I doubt I'd be able to tolerate reading subs for so many episodes. Basically I go with whatever is most convenient.

I prefer subbed... mostly because dubbed eps usually make COMPLETELY unwarranted editing...

I prefer the subbed Japanese episodes compared to the English dubbed ones, as often the voice acting isn't done as well and the lines are changed to something worse, but otherwise, if the storyline's good enough, it can oversee the negative aspects.

I usually like Japanese with subtitles. Mainly because I like the Japanese language...
