That made no sense at all.

Anyway, I think it's great if they at least limit smoking.

Ermm, Northern Ireland has been smoke free from the 30th April. I think it is a very good idea. I went to a party organised by people in my year and compared it to a similar one we had before the ban came in. My dad noticed the first difference when I came out, I didn't stink of smoke. My throat also wasn't as sore.

TBH I think it is funny to watch people standing outside supermarkets etc smoking because they aren't allowed to inside, and I also think it's about time too. I have nothing against them damaging their own health but it really peeves me when they affect others as well. Lol, in NI your not allowed to smoke in phone boxes.....XD

Well, that must stink for smokers. For everyone else, though, I'm sure their lungs are celebrating their escape from second hand smoke...

They can still smoke but not in Public places, so they'll even smoke in their homes, but atleast it will be away from people who don't want to smoke and catch the smell of whatever ciggaretes is every day.

I think it's a good thing to do. Quz it's really irritating when you wait for a train or something and someone next to you starts smoking.
Ofcourse it's a hell for those who smoke, but more reason for people to quit^^

We've had pretty much the same law in Canada for almost 2 or 3 years now. I have to admit, it's pretty awesome.

Yes, I think the message that smoking is bad is finally getting through, even the French are extending their smoking ban to include cafes:speechless-smiley-0.

The only problem is people will go home and smoke around their kids instead which isn't much better. Lol, people aren't allowed to smoke in their homes if someone is working there, like a plumber. You can't smoke in taxis either.

Does it affect those who work at home?

It also means that even at workplaces people can't smoke near the entrances. They have to provide facilities away from main walkways. Non smokers won't have to walk through smokers who can't smoke elsewhere.

I think it's great to limit where smoking can be done. It will be beneficial to people with allergies and breathing conditions. It also gives people a real incentive to give up.

My only concern is will it be enforced. For example, the dog 'waste' fine, I don't think it has ever been enforced. What's to say people will still smoke in places and get away with it. As I've said before, a law is just a piece of paper sitting in Whitehall unless it is enforced properly.

We've had this law in New York here for at least 3 years. And as far as I can tell there have been no bad things that came from it. I hardly ever see people smoking anymore, and when I do it's usually in their own homes. There are no smoking/non smoking areas anymore, due to the fact that it's illegal for smokers to even smoke in places where they were previously allowed to, and this has opened up a lot of space in restaurants for more people to eat. Not to mention there's a drop in fires caused my lit cigarrettes. And smoking as a whole has just gone down, with all the hassle of finding a place to get a light, most smokers in NY have just stopped altogethor. There hasn't been any riots or personal attacks on the government for making this law, although smokers complained at first, their voices were drowned out by all the people that thought the law was great.

So...overall, where I stand on this happening in England: Ch...since when do I live in England? I don't care. Good luck with the new law and stuff.

Thanks for that Cin. I really hope it works as well and from what you have said I really feel it will make a difference. Places such as restaurants will be more pleasant to go to and people can still smoke in their own homes if they want to.

There is the plus side. they can smoke without people who don't want to choke on it around. Anyway, they can stop smoking with Boots 'Stop smoking consultation'. yay boots!

Today's the day with the smoking ban.

Work will be interesting. I say that about 50% of the staff smoke, only now smoking is banned throughout the whole store. There used to be a smoking room but now they won't allow smoking at all.

I think this law is awesome, when I was in a different state they had smoking allowed in restaurants I thought it was annoying as hell. Where I live you can only smoke in a resturant if it is like a bar or club or such, and that has a seperate area.
