Ending Censorship

Now, yes, this is the spamzone, but this is a very serious and important topic that I seriously believe needs to be adressed.

On KHV, there are many, many, many words that are censored out, mostly because they are deemed "inappropriate" by the staff or otherwise. Now I'm a supporter of the staff, I believe we have a good team who can run a place pretty sufficiently for having a string of ****** site owners, but I believe that there are certain words that should not be censored from the system. More specifically:

Penis, Vagina, etc. etc.

These are medical terms, for one, and are only innappropriote if the context in which they are used is deemed inappropriatte. I personally believe thet censoring words like this is just a handicapp and a hinderence on certain intelligent discussions, as well as friendly banter, they're also a certain bit of laziness when it comes to site work, (Rosey, Sam...this was NOT a personal attack at how hard you work...GOD.) as censoring out each and every possible variation of these words without first looking at not only context, but who's saying them is laziness.

A perfect example of this was in Libregkd's recent "Favorite Anything that Starts with V" thread. Nearly every person in the thread put in a vote for the word "vagina", and not once was the word used, it was ridiculous, however the members still go their point across. It's impossible to gather a group of 3000 teenagers and not have sex talk and profanity flying around. And as for kids, they're probably two young to understand really, and what the **** will they learn here that they can't learn from Tv, Music, Art, School, Movies, or from strangers on the street?

It's a little known fact that the url for KH-vids.net, is only 2 letters away from being the url for a pornography website. I won't name the exact site, but if you take kingdom hearts out of the equation, it's just a site of adult videos. I was quite confused after THAT typo, you can be sure of that.

The fact is, words like this are EVERYWHERE, and for people who find words like this inappropriote...they are just words, and YOU give them power. There would be no such thing as vulgarity or "bad words" if people realized that that's all they are, words. By saying "OMG that offends me", you are making the word offensive. To hinder the speech and fun of those around you so that your cute little ears can sleep at night without fear of the penis word monster coming out from under your bed, is just selfishness. And if you're too young for words like ****, ****, ****, ******, should you REALLY be on the fking internet?

Who agrees and believes we should try and get this rule to be changed?

Almost everyone knows how to get around the censoring anyway.

However, I have seen nine and ten year olds on this site, and while they really shouldn't be on the internet, they don't need to know those kind of words yet.

I say keep at least some of the censoring.​

 

Lets end cencorship. Who gives a damn if little 10 year olds read the freaking swearing. I bet they get a lot of those at school... End cencorship.

 

I 100% agree with you Cin. Beautiful rant, and your right. If you can't take these words, get off the internet, with youtube, porn, songs, and all media out there you can't hide from it.

 

Some censors should be kept, like **** etc etc because they are most commonly used as insults or swearing.

However I do think that words like v.agina and penis shouldn't be censored, hell kids LEARN in school what they are before they are 10. I do think the censors are too strict, but I disagree with complete removal of all of them.

Well, this is really more a thread about censorship leniency, complete removal all at once would be foolish.

 

I agree now that I saw Cin's last post.

 

I swear we have removed penis and ****** unless someone added them again. We relaxed them not to long ago, there are now less then there was a few months ago.

Edit: Ok Vag is still there, but penis isn't.

but tge f, c, s and words who's only reason for being is to insult is being kept.

I agree with removing the censors, if you can't take seeing words like that you shouldn't be on the internet.

 

Most curses will stay of course. Just the unneccessary ones needs to be uncensored

I can assume any 10 year old that is on here, needs to be off really. And kids are exposed to a lot worse at school than here, anyways I don't see why not getting rid of them, especially like the ones stated. The "bad" ones so to speak I am impartial to I don't care about those to much. But when saying vag. that should not be kept editted. In which I don't know why my location got edited for that so someone on staff really does not like that I would assume.
