I know I don't post much or at all here, but i need help with this.
You see, lately my friend has been acting more and more emo and has been talking about self harm a lot ,she's been reading those dark and disturbing books that have crap loads of cutting and self-harm,which i think have been encouraging her >:C .

Just the other day she told me she cut her index finger, and i quote "Apparently it DOES hurt...so I got a cut on my index finger... Now I know what Raven(book char.) meant when he said it made him feel better...and it just a shallow one... No massive blood loss or anything of that sort."

I'm sorry if I'm sounding like those overly worrying people, but past experiences taught me that it pretty much STARTS with cutting yourself on PURPOSE even if it is a shallow cut on the index finger.

I know she's overly stressed out and depressed, probably because of her over religious parents,A levels, and all that jazz, but its worrying me,partly because I care for her and I do NOT want to see scars appearing on her wrists .
Therapy and going to school councilors won't work, because:
a)She doesn't have the time for therapy, her parents will probably not listen to her,and she just won't go.
b)WE HAVE NO SCHOOL COUNCILOR >:C
    So,kh-vids,help please >_<?

Have her read My Immortal. That might help. Possibly.

Pain is an outlet. Try to find another outlet for her that isn't damaging.

If she has only cut her index finger all is not lost, most (if not all) self harmers/suisidal people tend to cut themselves verticlly on the upper arm. Look out if she is reluctant to show her arms or is conninuesly waring long armed baggy cloths. the best advice is the simplest be there for her and don't take everything to heart maybe she's just imagining life in that way like in the book?

mmm hopefully it looks like she hasn't gone too far yet. Most people become suicudal and turn towards self harm, due to their surroundings etc...
The only thing I can suggest is try and comfort and listen to them, let them express themselves, but try and get them to do something else with their time that they find fun and exciting, should take their mind of it. Though it's different for every person so it's hard to suggest anything. (I know quite a few people who have attempted suicide and what helped them the most was just people who were there to care for them :))

    I hope things look up
