Is Origin really that bad? I hear so much about people loving Steam that I've never noticed anything bad said about Origin. Other than the fact that it's an EA thing.

Origin is no worse than Steam, so if you want Sims 2, there's really no point not to install Origin.

It's more for me the fact that EA just had to make their own digital platform rather than play nice with Steam, thus keeping any future PC releases from being on any platform other than Origin (like Dead Space 3 and all future Battlefield releases.) So, unless your Steam friends also have you on Origin, you won't be able to find them easily. And, you won't get nearly the same quality or quantity of sales on Origin itself as you would on Steam, GOG, GreenManGaming, etc.

For myself, Origin is....just ok. Mainly cause almost all of the 9 games I own were given away by EA (my brother bought Battlefield 3)

    Also, EA.

Ah. Figures as much. Well, I don't feel like getting Sims 2 through other means again so I guess I'll be using this. Thanks anyways.

I've heard about some pretty huge issues with Origin though, stuff like people losing their entire library of games and EA refusing to do anything about that, and people trying to play multiplayer only for Origin to claim the game doesn't exist, with the only fix being deleting and reinstalling everything
    Free games are cool though

Dayum I would do this if I wasn't currently sitting in front of my shelf filled with the Sims 2 and all it's expansion packs. And that I have too many games to play right now.

Oh wow the last time I've ever played sims was when I was a kid, and that was sims 1. I think I'll try this out.

I'm surprised it's free to everyone now, considering this was originally for people who owned the original disc and redeemed it on origin. but it's nice. i used to own the game, none of the expansions, so i'm pretty excited.

also, anyone that does download this, the game will ask for a registration key. on your games list, hover over the sims 2, click the i button, and it should be listed there.

ahh i'm so desperate to do this. but i only have a laptop (which already has all of blizzard games downloaded onto it) so i'm really not sure how well it will run. :( but w/e i'm still getting it and if my laptop takes a poop then oh well.

it's gonna be super weird because i haven't played the sims 2 since the sims 3 came out so i'm kind of used to the better graphics but i just do not have the money to throw away to buy my own copies of the sims 3. maybe one day they'll do the sims 3 for free and i'll be ready because the way the sims 4 is looking right now, i'll never upgrade to it.

the reason the sims 2 became free (originally for owners) was because they were dropping technical support for the game, so they were making sure everyone had the most up-to-date version, so maybe it'll happen with the sims 3?? but who knows

You don't have to play it now; just get it linked to your account while the game is free and play it later.

Once you've redeemed it you technically own it c: So even if you don't install now, at least use the promotional code to retrieve your freebie so it can be played later~ uwu

For once I don't have to say that I don't have the money, but now I just don't have to time to sit down and play it. D: Plus I already own most of the expansion packs :x

    Me too oh my goodness.
I'm finding the experience quite odd because I'm not used to such a wide expansion set x'D

I downloaded it and it didn't take up like any space on my laptop, lol. I spent all last night playing it. Like, it got to the point where I was like "at 6:00 I'll start making dinner for myself" and by the time I knew it was like 10 and I still hadn't made myself dinner. :v

I'm so used to playing sims 3 that it's so weird reverting back to sims 2 where you can't zoom out to the entire neighborhood to go to places and you actually have to call a taxi to go somewhere :c
