Well, here's some pretty interesting news.

Personally, I've never heard of a company or business backing out of something, but there's a first time for everything. =P

Well you can't win them all but you can make it more difficult for them later. I've played MW2 and I quite enjoyed it. The only thing with other FPS is that they keep trying to take what MW2 has and turning it into their own. That's not what needs to be done. What needs to be done is take the genre that is before you and twist it into something that has never been done. That is how you can make success. The only thing that can topple a game is a similar game that appeals to a different audience.

    HAH.

...If I had it my way, my post would end with that "Hah." For truly the content is all there, but I doubt the mods would see it.

I don't care for either series, it's just sickly satisfying to hear that EA has tucked their tail between their legs in any way.

But Acitivision is far worse than EA when it comes to being the "EVIL BIG GAMESCOMPANY of the WORLD" ._.

Of COURSE BF3 isn't going to outsell MW3! You cannot make that clame when CoD: Black Ops sold more than 23 million copies on the Ps3 and 360 alone, while the best selling recent Battlefield was Bad Company 2 and that sold probably around seven million total. MW3 will beat it just because it's the game to get for shooter fans.

I love how it's a competition. So ironic. Everything's a competition these days... Not even a healthy one, a mean, dirty one.

Not really a competition, more just using your brain for a moment. Activions is the company who thinks that if a game is popular then you should release it every year with abrely any changes. Activision is doing everything they stop people from renting games (which I actually approve of, but still). They think that games should be much more expensive. Don't forget about the Infinity Wards debacle back when MW2 released! Activion destroyed that company. They also destroyed the "Guitar Hero genre" by releasing fifteen titles every year. Activision does not have the consumers in mind, they only think about money. EA on the other hand has been pretty dang sweet ever since Activision replaced it as the biggest third party game publisher/developer. They have been trying to innovate and give us new titles that stray from the norm, like Mirror's Edge, Dead Space and Brütal Legend. I haven't really been paying much attention to games for a year now so that's why the examples are a tad bit old, but at least EA is trying to be a good company, while Activision couldn't care less. There's also the EA Partner program which is lovely program that helps small time developers while not tying them down. Activision is evil, where as EA just used to be evil.

Ea is just as bad. Look at the Madden franchise. Same game every year eith barely any improvements, and a roster update. Look at Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 2, dumbing down both games to make more money. EA as has the VIP system, where if you don't buy full price you get half of the game's content. They're just as bad.

To be honest, these two companies are taking alot from one another. COD is using more points based and team work style gameplay, whilst BF is using more chaotic action. THe two will be similar in a lot more ways then ever before.

I still don't understand how peopel can say that Dragon Age 2 was dumbed down, the increase in fast action on consoles was a great move in my opinion. And sure Mass Effect 2 had less traditional RPG customisation inputs (one of the few things I thoguht was a bit more bland about the game), but in general it was the greatest RPG i've played, and certainly great in shooting, story and dialogue. No game is perfect, and a true developer doesn't just repeat the formula fromt he past it tries to improve on it, even if it misses on some marks but excells in others.

I don't plan on buying MW3, I have my sights more on BF3. As for the article, it kinda saddens me. I was kinda hoping for a cleaner competition, but I guess that's a little too much to ask. I kinda understand their point of view about MW3 outselling BF3 since Call of Duty is a much more popular franchise than Battlefield, not saying Battlefield is bad. I actually prefer it over Call of Duty, especially with Call of Duty's mistakes over the years (noob tubes, overpowered shotguns, commando etc). Battlefield felt truly like a military shooter.

Disagree. With franchises like Madden/Fifa there is actually a reason to release a new version every year. There's a new fotball season every year and the rosters change and their stats change. It's not like CoD is reflecting on a new war every year and it is necesarry, if they didn't release a new one then the CoD fans would be completely fine with that and would just continue playing the same game, however they feel obliged to buy a new one when it comes out because if not they're falling behind. I think that the sports fans would actually be mad if they didn't release a new game every year because then the games wouldn't be keeping up with the sports. EA brings a lot of new and unique games to the table, Activision does not. EA usually sticks out for small time developers, unlike Activision, need an example? See Brütal Legend. I haven't been following Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 really, but I reckon that with Bioware having some fair amount of influence in the "hardcore" game market, they probably were given free reigns by EA. Yeah, I forgot about the VIP system, I'll give you that one.

I'm not saying that EA is perfect of course, they are a business like everyone else, but they seem to think about giving us good experiences a lot more than Activision.

    That's freaking stupid.

The Battlefield games are way better than MW ones. Just stupid kids buying the game, thinking it's cool. Man, I'd write a lot of **** down, but Im not going to bother.

Screw MW. It sickens me to hear that MW3 will be outselling BF3. Oh well...those idiots will be missing out.

The thing with Call of Duty is, it's easy to pick up and play. It's THE definition of a casual game, but a lot of people are getting tired of it. It has essentially been the same game every year, for 5 years now. People want change, something new, a breath of fresh air. Battlefield definitely brings that through their epic battles, and the plethora of things you can do in their games. Fly jets, ride tanks, humvees, naval machinery.

I think DICE will leave a mark with Battlefield 3, albeit not a giant one.

As far as game quality goes, BF has Always been better than CoD, and I've played both series.

I don't think they will outsell them initially, but in the end, I think there will be more copies sold of Battlefield 3 than MW3, because people will see the huge difference in quality.

Fair enough. But did you know EA has essentially claimed copyrights on football games themselves in order to monopolize the subgenre with the Madden series, thereafter getting lazier and lazier, putting in less and less content with each new release, because they no longer need to compete with anyone?

No they don't. They crave routine. They want something dressed up to look different so they can delude themselves into thinking they're not shallow and still experience the ease and comfort of never taking risks.

Here is the real answer: They are both bad. Play Catherine.

Isn't it the same thing that they did with Fifa? Essentially that they've just gotten the licensce to use the official names? People can still make some great and innovative fotball games despite that, like PES with Fifa, but you have a fair point there and yeah, in the end they're both businesses and they mostly care about money to survive.

    I'm just waiting for it to release in Europe ;-;
