E3 2011

The WiiU is basically the DS in high def. I'm not impressed by it at all. The 3DS is still not worth a buy for me either. Especially with the PSV looking so good.

 

Welp, wasn't planning on buying a Wii U, but I guess I'll have to since they've announced a Super Smash Bros for it. The controller looks pretty awful, though...

There IS something pretty important still not known about the Wii U: Internet connection. If it's not better than the Wii, my opinion of it will drop drastically.

After I watched the Skyrim gameplay, I felt like I got flashed with that thing from Men in Black before it, because I couldn't remember anything else. Battlefield 3 is the only game that can compete in my opinion.

 

I downloaded the FF XIII-2 trailer. OMFG Noel reminds me of a certain wimp. It looks amazing. Now if only Agito and Versus would get done soon. It'd be my year to be a Square! :Awesome:

Wii U looked pretty awesome, I was afraid Nintendo was going to have a bad conference, but they proved that they're just as on par (if not having a few birdies) with everyone else and they're still rocking it!

Or the game hardware isn't complete and they haven't sent out the development tools to people so they can make their games for the Wii U yet? So they kinda had to cut corner to be able to show games that are made "for the Wii U". It's still pretty silly and embarrassing though, but I do believe it has happened before with the Ps3? IIRC at least.

 

....Are we all forgetting the footage of the bird flying through the Japanese garden (which I am praying to be some kind of hint towards Okami because of everything in it) and Link?
Granted they were tech demos, but they were tech demos of using the system's early graphics power. As in that's what it looks like early in the development process. The console's not out until next year (putting my bets on holiday season), I seriously doubt that game developers would've been able to create a format of games - games that are coming out in a few months - compatible with a system that isn't fully complete yet. The reason they showed footage of those games was to show what it will be able to do. It an HD console, just like the others. It's just not totally finalized yet.

 

... Okami on the Wii U would be glorious. O_O

Also, remember, this is only our first look at the system. We're not going to know everything about it right off the bat (save for the graphics, hopefully), so we're just gonna have to wait and see. Nintendo's still got about another year and half to work on it.

Nope, I'm very impressed with the Wii U, just from what I saw yesterday. I really don't know how people can expect footage from games that are coming out on the current gen's consoles would've been developed for a system that isn't complete yet and completely ignore the fact that the tech demos shown were extremely high-quality. :/
Also really excited from the games they showed for the 3DS that are coming out this year, can't wait to see Ocarina of Time's updated look.

 

The tech demo is a good indicator, but it's just that, an indicator. For all we know it's per-rendered like the FFVII tech demo was, so you can never know if it's actually real.

I think people just find it a tad bit silly for Nintendo to go "Here, these are some games from other consoles, our games are gonna look like this :)" Even though it's probably true it's still a tad bit silly.

Nobody can really judge anything about the Wii U yet... Other than the goddamn controller.
