I think this is a good game but thats just me tell me what you think ^_^ offical site: http://www.dynastywarriorsgundam.com/flash_positive.html
I can only review based off the downloadable demo off the PS3 store. It's definitely a game that can sell itself before you actually play it, but when you get down to it, most of the game's flare comes from fanservice. The gameplay itself gets repetitive and bores one easily. Although it might seem pleasing to have hoards of mobile suits coming at you at the same time, they are mostly nothing but useless decoration that you simply slash through mindlessly with your limited movesets and combos. The first 100 or so might seem appealing, but with some of the missions resulting in your frag count exceeding well into 1000+, it gets tiresome and unengaging. The only redeeming aspect of this is the sub-bosses that you encounter throughout the missions--although even then these suits aren't too much to fear once you get a system down that can take them out easily. And once again, more of the thrill comes out of "Omg! It's the <uber popular gundam/mobile suit>!" when you spot it. In the PS3 demo for example, you have a run-in with Epyon from Gundam Wing with Milliardo piloting it. That's some fanservice action right there as you're forced to duel with him as Heero Yuy in Wing Zero. I'm pretty sure if you're a big enough Gundam fan, you can probably play it through to the end at least once with your favourite character. However, because of the major lack of creative mechanics in the game, and the fact that in the long run, the game becomes mostly a button masher (well, more like spamming the same combinations over and over again), and will probably make it hard for any veteran gamer to really invest time to replay the game for character and mobile suit upgrades. And even then, the only reason to do so will probably be because of fanservice. What it came down to for me was the price. It's currently going for 69.99CAD over here, which quite frankly isn't worth the game's value in my eyes. If the game was within the 39.99-49.99 (which for a blu-ray game, probably won't for a while), I might've considered it. Just my 2 cents on that.
0_o Ok that was long and very intresting I quite enjoy gundam so im geting this for christmas with my ps3 XD
Well I'm not a real Dynasty warriors fan. I've never really enjoyed them. They're just too repetitif and boring. So, if it's the same gameplay than I probably won't enjoy this one.
The thing about Dynasty Warriors though was the combo/movesets were far superior and had much better application than what DW:Gundam offers, from what I could tell. In comparison to the awesome combo-ability in Dynasty Warriors, DW:Gundam is gimp--and thus added to my disappointment of the game. There is some merit to the title, just not worth 69.99CAD(plus tax).
When I first saw 'Dynasty Warriors' I was thinking the Samurai game. xD So I was confused at first. And let me say that my ears were killed by the LOUD music on that site. I don't really think it warrants a buy moreso a rental. Since 'fan service' games tend to be repetitive to a sickening level.
The game is good at creating a general replay value, but like all of Koei's Dynasty games it eventually gets boring once you've completed everything in terms of levels, items, equipment, etc. The action is good, and you have a choice between playing in the Universal Century or an entirely new story designed by Koei that is intended to mesh all the gundams/eras included in the game. The Universal story line can be fun especially if you liked that generation, but if you want to use all the possible pilots in the game the Original Story lets you do so. The only issue is that it's really weak, mostly feeding off of the past that each character has with another respective to the series they're from. Other than that it's about a mysterious planet that is constant in all eras featured in the game. The only other draw back for this game was that for a company that has produced Dynasty games with over 64 characters featured, Koei was really stingy with the whole Gundam license. It would've been nice to have more suits to choose from, especially in the After Colony era. Including gundams from many other story lines, like the Cosmic era would've made the replay value sky rocket too.
I plan on getting it. . .IF I ever get a PS3. I saw it in the stores and I wanted to try it. . but a kid kept playing it. I stood there for 30 minutes waiting for him to get off so I could go on to kick a** there, but I left. It looked really cool though.
