I've been playing DVDs on my computer for some time no, but recently, it's stopped. I don't know why and I've tried many different DVDs and CDs and nothing has worked.

Was there anything that you recently installed or uninstalled?

My grandpa once installed software on my mom's computer without her permission, and when she uninstalled it, her CD/DVD drive stopped working because the uninstall had messed up her drivers.

Well then it's probably something wrong with the drive itself. :/

    Amber's probably right.

I remember this happening to me too, and I had to get a new one.

My computer->right click cd/dvd drive->autoplay and check if the option "do nothing" is selected (in any type of disc). Unless you mean it doesn't read the disc at all.
