Thunderstorm with heavy rain that lasted about an hour ended a little over an hour ago.

Our streets are flooded, and I can't wait to see what West Ellensburg is like. Additionally, what's always weird about Main Street is that one side is completely flooded while the other side is just wet.

The rain was so heavy that it affected braking and ignition and even slowed me down when I didn't want to slow down.

Not really wierd, the road is just lopsided.

This, my dear Watson/Amaury, is what one might call hydroplaning. It's a common occurrence after a mass amount of water has fallen from the sky and gathered on the road.

    Elementary, my dear boy.

I didn't feel like I was off the street, more like it just seemed to take a tiny bit longer to stop. It felt like I was sort of sliding on ice, but I didn't exactly feel "off the street," as I already stated.

I thought hydroplaning was when your tires went gliding over water, preventing you from stopping?

That's how I know hydroplaning as as well, but it didn't feel like I was gliding.

Well of course it didn't feel like you were gliding. You don't ever notice it until you can't slow down.

Pro-tip: Drop your speed by about 10-20 miles per hour when it's been raining like the way you described.

I'm bitterly reminded of the time when my mom was driving me to school and the road had yet to be sanded because it was iced, and a SUV almost ran into us, but my mom sped up and then our car swerved out of control, did a complete 360 off the road and we nearly slammed into a warning sign's metal pole that would have collided with exactly where I was sitting.

I still went to school that day, unfortunately, but on the bright side, I had kolaches with melted cheese from Shipley's.

Speed limit in our city is 25, so I dropped to about 20 in bad areas.

Although I also had a little fun, but by just going the speed limit. I'm not a speeder.

    Hydroplaning

    ^

What? ... You said it felt like you were sliding ... You were hydroplaning ... I've done this enough to know ... I purposely brought about a lot of it but ... yeah.

You are definitely more of a trooper than me. I'd have been done for the day, went home and slept it off. I'd have also probably hunted down the SUV ... and gave him a very angry speech ... or something.

I was really angry, but I've been in so many car wrecks with my mom, it's ridiculous. She should hold a world record or whatever. I was too busy trying to collect what was left of my sanity by stuffing my face and drowning my panicked ( i cant think of another word/phrase for 'extremely traumatized' ) tears.

    Hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa it was awful

Yeah, sounds like my grandfather. I'm on pins and needles after he gets done driving, which is why I usually offer to drive him instead. My brother is worse though. With him my body goes into full shutdown mode for giving any ****s. It's extremely strainful ... but then I'm almost entirely relaxed near the end.

Some people just shouldn't drive ... ever.

Every fiber of my being was screaming at me to not go into this thread
And when I came here I realized... only he would make a title like that and then have it be about more weather/driving.
I'm not sure what I came here expecting, but I'm admittedly somewhat disappointed.

I read the title thinking Llave had broken up with you.
