Because anvils being dropped on talking rabbits/ducks/<insertothergenericanimalhere> has such amazing plotlines and character depth.

Cartoons were better BECAUSE they didn't have that sappy, "deep, meaningful" stuff.

Dp, you just confirmed my point. xD I don't like that sappy, deep stuff in things like anime because that's not what cartoons are about to me.

Mr. Rabbit: Excuse me, Mr. Duck.
Mr. Duck: Oh why a pleasure to see you, Mr. Rabbit. What would you like today?
Mr. Rabbit: If you may mind, may I have your permission to drop an anvil on your head?
Mr. Duck: Why of course, anything for my friend Mr. Rabbit! Where shall I stand, then?
Mr. Rabbit: Where you are currently standing is quite fine.
    Mr. Duck: I shall wait.
*Mr. Rabbit inserts finger into ear, takes out a minuscule bone*
Mr. Duck: What in the world's name are you doing, Mr. Rabbit?!
*Mr. Rabbit brings hand to the top of Mr. Duck's head and drops the bone*
Mr. Duck: What? Where is the anvil?
Mr. Rabbit: Didn't you get the joke? I dropped my anvil on your head.
Mr. Duck: I'm afraid I do not.
Mr. Rabbit: Oh pish posh, learn the names of your ear bones, Mr. Duck.

Explain how sword fights, demons, ghosts, and mindless violence is deep and sappy.

Personally I'd rather have something to watch that makes me think. Or to make me laugh like a maniac in the case of Higurashi. Hence why I like anime over cartoons. I like cartoons but they have their place and anime has it's.

Cartoons vs anime is srs bsns :/gasp:

I lol'd more then I should of at that I think XD

And the totally naked ones, that's the best bit in anything ;D

    Assuming you mean "sense"...

    Alchemy.
    Demons.
    Shinigami.
    Gigantic swords.
    Lasers.
Attacks that have names longer than the name of the weapon.

Feel free to add, anime fans.

Actually, there are some anime that do make sense and could totally happen in real life. Eg: Toradora.

The stuff you're naming is simply stereotypes of anime. :v

But it's what most mainstream and well known series are based on.

Ah damn, forgot to add orange jumpsuit wearing ninjas. :/

I like both the old cartoons and newer stuff. Really guys, it's just a matter of preference. Telling kasey to update is just as biased as him telling you to appreciate the older cartoons. At least this hasn't evolved into a **** storm yet.
