Dream Drop Distance: Release Date, Anniversary & Secret Ending Information

Hello KH-Vids. Today, we have some interesting news to report about.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance is slated for a March 2012 release in Japan. Still not aware of an official release date, the Nintendo 3DS title should be confirmed for an exact release date within just a couple of days or even weeks.

In the mean time, we are receiving some information based on Dream Drop Distance. This includes information from the secret ending, special bundle set, Kingdom Hearts anniversary and more!

The Ending of KH3D

—So will KH3D will be equipped with a system that utilizes wireless transmissions?

Nomura: There is a mini game where you can compete against other player’s Dream Eaters via ad-hoc wireless to upgrade your Dream Eaters. These competitions occur differently than normal battles. It’s a system that we’ve wanted to try before.

—The expectations are rising for fans who want to know the release date and whether or not there will be a special edition release.

Nomura: Please wait just a little while longer for a formal announcement.

—Will the ending of this title also be a heart wrenching one?

Nomura: The ending for KH3D is a little unusual, the plan up until now had been different… But every once in a while I think, it’s good this way. In fact, the first ending I thought up quickly became no good due to various circumstances, but now the ending is something that I worry quite a bit about. As a result, we tried to do something unique for the ending this time. Incidentally, the secret movie will be shorter. Though it is short, like the Re:Coded secret movie, it will connect to the next shocking developments in the series, so please look forward to it.

- KH3D is in the final stage of production.
- There will be a special 3DS bundle announced but we'll have to wait for it.
- KH3D's release date will be announced soon.
- A surprise announcement for the 10 year anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts series will be coming.
- KH3D has an ending that will be shocking, and unconventional for the series.
- The ending that was originally planned for the game was not approved.
- KH3D's secret ending will connect to a future game in the series.
- The secret ending of Re:coded, and the secret ending of KH3D will tie in together.

- In the opening movie, the top screen will feature a VisualWorks CG movie, while the bottom screen depicts traditional 2D animation of Mickey's silhouette moving around! This was inspired by his actions in Sorceror's Apprentice. As such, what he does at the bottom screen will influence what happens at the top.
- You can use the Dream Eaters you've collected to battle against another's via adhoc communication! The battle system is different from that of the in-game command deck, like a minigame of some kind.

Man, this ending is really making me excited. The moment someone posts the ending on youtube I'm gonna have to watch it, because there's no way I can just see this and not look it up when possible

Oh goodness I've never been so happy to be too poor to afford a 3DS when it came out (or when they dropped the price). If the bundle thing comes state-side then I'm SO saving up for it (hopefully have enough by my birthday). I've been psyched about this game ever since it was first leaked.

Also I'm getting very anxious about the secret ending and the supposed 10th anniversary announcement. Way to go, Mike, you posted an excellent piece of information on this!

hey, correct me if I'm wrong, but the fact that we killed all organization members could bring all of them back, no? it's the main reason why Xehanort's coming back, since we destroyed his nobody and heartless... and since organization members' heartless's could look like pretty much anything, since Xehanort's heartless was special (told in Re: CoM), we could have destroyed, without knowing it, their heartless's.

I think I read somewhere that in order for someone to come back whole they must have their Heartless destroyed first then their Nobodies destroyed second. So basically if the Nobodies died before their Heartless did they're not coming back...at least through the same way Xehanort is. I mean there has to be some limitations to the whole rule, because if there wasn't dying in the Kingdom Hearts universe wouldn't really mean anything.

In the 8 minute trailer, we actually see Ienzo, Lea, and if I remember right, Aeleus and Dilan as well. So we know at least 4 of the original 6 are back (including Xehanort), and Axel's human is back.

I could honestly care less about the secret ending (mainly because there's always a secret ending in KH games). I'm more psyched that Chernabog is back. I can't wait to kick his ass again. Maybe he'll finally have a journal entry this time around :3

Also Braig. The question is, were those trailer scenes flashbacks or not ?

It means that Axel, Zexion and Lexaeus have been confirmed to be back in human form, with both their human and nobody memories (not just in flashbacks then), and that Mysterious Figure will appear too.

Oishii from KH13 has translated a question from the interview. Please note that this contains spoilers about the Mysterious Figure and Young Master Xehanort.

--Other than Fantasia's world, there is the appearance of a character wearing a black coat and has gold eyes. Who is this character?
Nomura: In KH Birth By Sleep Final Mix we added a boss, a mysterious man who can manipulate time. That's him. KH3D will talk about what sort of person he is. For instance, where he will go in the future, and the appearance of Vanitas, we will see some appearances of this person of darkness.

MF is Young Xehanort who somehow used time to travel back to the BBS timeline . Nomura's statement.
