Good evening KH-Vidians. Mixt here acting as stand-in reporter to bring you some more audio related news courtesy of axel91.

The Original Soundtrack for Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is slated for release in Japan on April 18th. A bit shy of a month after the game's release on March 29th. It is priced at ¥3,800 ($48.85) and is 3 disks long.

Although I'm having trouble verifying, folks over at kh13.com and khinsider.com state that it will feature both recurring Kingdom Hearts composer Yoko Shimomura as well as The World Ends With You composer Takeharu Ishimoto. So it seems that they will be pulling no punches on music for this title.

UPDATE: I've now verified Takeharu Ishimoto involvement with this interview from Famitsu.

Oooh, I've never played TWEWY or listened to its OST, but people tell me it's phenomenal. So if this is joining with the magnificence of the KH soundtrack...

I just finished TWEWY (Definitely one of the greatest games on the DS if you have a DS you must have this game!) and the ending song made me tear up a bit along with the scenes shown. Though I have a feeling the composer had nothing to do with that song similar to how Utada Hikaru's songs are probably separate from Yoko Shimomura...aside from the orchestrated versions. Still the other music was also pretty awesome, 3 minutes clapping is my favorite, play it when I open the menu in-game, play it while voice acting, play it while typing this, play it EVERYWHERE!

Anyway looking forward to this, 3D is just getting better and better with each piece of news that comes out! XD

This is great. I can't wait to hear how Ishimoto will interpret some of the tracks. The fifty dollar price tag is quite hefty, but it may be worth it in the end.

      Thanks Mixt.

$48 for a soundtrack? That's a bit high, although I guess it's got 3 CDs worth of KH music, so I can kinda see it. Not buying it though, that's what the internet is for

Whether or not I buy this is entirely dependent on how much music they recycle. If there is a ton of music that is simply a remix of tracks featured in previous games(i.e. 358/2 Days), then I may hold out. However, due to the nature of this game featuring many new worlds and being a stand out title unique to itself such as BBS was, I may consider it. Also, it is rare that I purchase a soundtrack collection prior to my buying or completing the game. I like to first hear the music when it has the most emotional impact. This, IMO, is usually when you encounter it within the game. Hearing the music first without any experience with the game and only later within the game won't feel the same. Either way, good find.
