It surprises me that there is no thread about this.

Bioware never ceases to amaze me. I got this game yesterday on my PS3 (Granted the PC version is superior though <_< I don't have a powerful PC.), and it's just simply fantastic. If some of you are aware of other Bioware games like Knight of the Old Republic, Mass Effect and Buldar's Gate, you'll know how this game plays.
The story itself is great. Anything you do might change a lot of things.

Did anyone else get the game?
I started as an Elf Mage.

I got it when it came out. I started out as a human noble, and I played through the beginning of game using the girl mage the whole time, so I went back and started a new game with a mage instead. I must say I really like this game.

Great story, Pretty good combat and very very nice voice-overs make this game a must play. maybe even a must buy. The graphics weren't amazing, but everything was very smooth, unlike how Mass Effect wasn't.

I saw it, I've been wanting it since just before the release date here but I've decided to get it for Christmas instead XD

But it does look quite good, I've never had any of Bioware's old games but I used to play Knights of the Old Republic on someone else's PC back in the day and if this game is like that or better I am definitely getting it.

It is very much like KOTOR, has the same dialog and party approval/disapproval system, and the combat is much like it as well.

I ain't getting Sigma 2 til it's cheap. I already got the original (and bloodier ;D) version for the 360, and I enjoy it more than I did the Sigma 2 demo.

Tekken 6...I suck at still :< Maybe picking it up when it's cheap too.

I have to get back into the Ratchet and Clank series before I play the new one. I've only played the 2nd.

Demon Souls, I haven't played yet. Looks good.

Uncharted 2 needs to be in my library soon. Got stuck in chapter 21 and had to return it.

Buuuuuuuuuuut anyway, any verdicts on which is better? KOTOR or Dragon Age?

    Hmm
Well I'm definitely liking Dragon Age more to be honest. For one, the degree of things you can do is immense. And the choices you have to make sometimes ._. Oh god. It can make or break your party, change your game, and make you even feel bad sometimes (I should know)

The soundtrack is lovely. (Hell, even the "Press Start" screen has an awesome song in it >_>)

Storywise, the story and scenes are similar to that of Lord of the Rings, which is not a bad thing. The way it's presented is superb.

The only thing that bothers me is the bugs you get sometimes, while not as buggy as people claim it to be though. I'm talking about texture problems and missing single line voices.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Knights of the Old Republic. But I had an "Eh" moment at times.

And if you can get the PC version, DO IT. It looks amazing on the PC. The game is much simpler on it. (With the simpler interface and all that)

The reviews i've read called it an great game, but not amazingly great. Like and 8 out of 10.
Still from everyone's reaction it sounds to be worth the purchase.
I never doubt Bioware will make a great game, but I have to say i'm feeling their ideas being recycled over and over.

First being the end of the first KOTOR, where the Republic ships are in a losing battle until the MC on the station starts to change the tide of the battle, until eventually the station is destroyed and the MC's whereabouts is unknown. It mirrors Mass Effect's end, where Sovereign and Geth forces assault the station in order to win the war, whilst the MC is in the station attempting to stop that from happening. Sovereign is near invincible until Shepherd defeats it's mind, where by the fleet is able to destroy it (and yes, the MC appears to be dead)
And also, Mass Effect's ancient enemy (the Reapers) also mirrors the ancient enemy of Dragon Age (Darkspawn).

Ok, off topic, but still thanks for the positive look on this game guys. Christmas present for sure.

Thank God someone made a topic about DA:O.

Is one of the best RPGs ever. Course, we're talking about Bioware here.

One thing I don't like is the random disapproval system from your allies. I go to Redcliff Castle to
get an army to help stop the blight. but before i do that i need to kill the demons in the castle and to help make things easier I've got to promise the blacksmith I'll find his daughter so he supplies the militia with armor
Well Morrigan and Sten were all like "lol we gonna go help kittens later?" MORRIGAN AND STEN DISAPPROVE -10.

    It gets worse
If you keep Alistair with you when you make your choice in the castle about the possessed boy his disapproval drops by loads. Luckily I had the right gifts to boost his approval back up xD

I've been playing it since I got it on Christmas as well as the other games I got and I do think it is good, 8/10 like most would put it. Though sometimes the choices your given are pretty much the same thing >>
I also find hardly a use for a rogue, though that could just be my preference considering how we get given some not very appealing rogues to use IMO even though I do like the rogue abilities (and kinda need it for them locked chests that are everywhere ._.).
Also I loved the trapped in The Fade part, shapeshifting into monsters was awesome, though I'm glad Shale is like a heavily upgraded version of the Golem Spirit cause it makes her more easier to get used to or vice versa depending on when/if you get her xD.

Did you not do the Broken Circle quest? If you saved the Circle, you can ask them to do the ritual to send a mage in. You don't have to kill Connor or use Blood Magic to save him.

I did do the quest but it didn't give me the option for some reason so I just left it and let Isolde die instead xD

I've actually come across a few glitches to the game, some can be quite annoying. I've actually missed two parts of dialogue, one answer to something I asked the guy who's trapped in The Fade and the elf merchant who you get the Ironbark quest from in the forest camp when I asked to see his wares.
