Don't Leave

She nodded and got out a piece of cheese, putting it on a slice of bread, putting a couple pieces of turkey on the other and putting them together.
"Here," she said, smiling while putting it on a plate set out. She put hers on her plate and picked it up, tearing a piece off with her teeth and chewing it slowly.

 

"Thanks." he said, taking it and taking a bite out of it.

 

She nodded her head once and walked into the kitchen. The table was pretty long and she liked the space. She coughed after swallowing and she pushed her plate away after only one bite.

 

He followed her and swallowed his bite. "Not hungry?" he asked.

 

"I'm never hungry," she said, a little sternly, and a little on the plain side.
"Vampires don't eat... We can if we want, but what's the point? My other brother is a new vampire, and he hasn't gotten used to not eating, so we have supplies for him," she said.

 

"I see." he said. "So, how long have you been a vampire?" he asked.

 

She laid her head down softly.
"Hmm. about 5 hundred years," she said.

 

He almost choked on his second bite and swallowed it. "F-FIVE HUNDRED YEARS!?!?" he shouted, shocked, eyes wide.

 

Kimberly stood up quickly and walked over to the window and put one of her hands over her face to try and mask her sobbing. She felt horrid to be in such a curse.

 

"I-I'm sorry." he said, regaining his composure. "I was just shocked. I didn't know you were around that long." He got up and walked over to her, putting his hands on her shoulders. "You must have been through alot."

 

She wiped her eyes.
"Doesn't look like i'm Five hundred years old, does it?" she asked.

 

"No." he said. "You don't look a day over 16"

 

She nodded.
"I was turned, at sixteen," she said. She lost her footing, stumbling back. She decided to sit back down. She walked over to her seat again.
"I'll tell you the story, if you want," she said, lying her head back down.

 

"Alright." he said, pulling up a chair in front of her.

 

"My real parents left me in the forest when only a few days old, so i don't know them. Nina and Mikael adopted me. They live in London now and expect me to take care of my brothers," she said.
"When i was around sixteen, i was killed, and the only way that i could've been saved was by turning," she said.

 

"Wow." he said. "That's a sad story."

 

"I don't find it sad... Only pathetic," she said.

 

Vaahg was standing just inside the kitchen, arms crossed and leaning against the door frame.

 

"I don't think you're pathetic." he said. "I think you're brave."

 

"You're attempts to make me feel any better aren't working, so quit while you're ahead," she said. She felt her stomach twist and turn and she groaned.
"Jake!" she shouted, hoping he would hear her. She kept her head down on the table and let the cool surface cool her cheek.
