I think people's major complaint with the 'taste' of water is its lack of taste. Some would much rather drink something with flavor, like lemonade or juice. Personally I would prefer drinking water over anything else because it's the only thing that really satisfies my thirst and you can't really go wrong with it (as long as it's pure).

I think it differs amongst people. It tastes a little different to everyone. I think it's an indescribable taste [it tastes refreshing xP]. I've had people tell me that this glass of water taste like this and I'd taste nothing. However, it's mostly got to do with what's IN the water. Even if it's pure or from a beautiful stream from the mountains, water will always contain something. Tap water tastes different from purified water, boiled water tastes different from bottled water, and cold water tastes different from melted water...all because it's different properties of water. Lastly...water will and forever be a little different tasting to everyone since we all have our likes and dislikes in certain tastes, and sometimes if you are a —phobe of something or prefer something specific, it tends to turn up in very tasteless taste such as water.

Water is hard to describe a taste too unless you have tried different varities of brands. Sparkletts tastes different then Arrowhead and visa versa. It has to do with where the water source comes from and what is put in the water. Sometimes minerals of different kinds are put in them, or it could be from the type of filter you get your water from.

Water has no flavour. The impurities in it do.

When I was vacationing in Florida a while ago, I could barely drink the water there because it was so disgusting. But, it was the stuff in the water, not the water itself.

i think it has a taste but because we think of it as a natural fluid (used to make other things eg orange Squash yum) we think of it to be plain and taste of nothing

    I duno what i just said ;D

Different parts of the world have different tastes to water. Because it is not pure or whatever that scientific **** says is the main reason. Different brands of water have different tastes, most likely because of the amounts of chloride solution/blah,being a nerd here/. Erm, so yeah. It depends on your tastebuds. Water is colourless & tastless.

Oh & bytheway, I dislike bottled water & water with fruit additives that make it taste like fruit/its quite horrible x_x (Mount Franklin & PUMP are exceptions). I fill up bottles up water from the tap and put them in the fridge. Much better tasting in my opinion.

Where I live now the water has a taste because of the minerals that are in the area, it doesn't taste all that awesome and we have a water filter to remove the impurities. Pure water has no taste, the source it comes from and the various additions to it such as chemicals by companies or from flavourings added are what give it its taste.

Of course it has a taste. Drinking water has additives that give it a slight metallic taste (barely, but still some). If it was just straight distilled water, it'd taste like... idk... it'd just be really smooth and the texture is all you'd notice.

It does has a taste. It's just most of us can't describe it. I'd describe it as smooth and clean. Unlike water from a sink... Yuck >_<

The only taste water tends to have is whatever's been added to the stuff. If you drank some of the water from where I live, most of the time it kind of tastes like you just licked a doorknob, it's such a metallic taste.

Adding those powders to it doesn't help for me, either. I feel like I'm drinking Alka Seltzer or something if I do.

We know it has a taste. Many animals can taste water - dogs, for example. We humans can't taste it, however (pure h2o, that is). Most of what we taste comes from chemicals, impurities and bacteria in the water.

I think water has a taste if for some reason the water from where I live, Adelaide, tastes different to the water in the place I go to once a year, Melbourne. Everyone in Australia thinks Adelaide has the crappiest tasting water, but I think it tastes pretty good imo. (lol that was totally biased)

It has a taste, but not a flavor.

Maybe it isn't the taste but the lack thereof that they recognize. Because as far as I know, the taste buds of dogs are comparable to ours. They know five basic tastes, just as we do.
This is just humble guessing though. Feel free to prove me wrong on this.

I can't prove it, since I read it in a book of random facts I no longer own, but I know I read that dogs, along with several other animals, can taste water.
