Do you think the goverment has the right to listen in on phone calls, read email, etc?

Personally, I'm in the middle with this one. I do believe that it is private, and it's really none of their business, but if they had legtimate reasons to, I think it's okay.

sort of, i'm sort of in the grey area with this one as well. i mean, if u have nothing to hide u shouldn't worry rite? but then again there are some things u dont' want other ppl to hear. so i don't really know. but if it prevents any catastrophe, i think it's justified

LOL ARE YOU KIDDING? Of course not.

They might have a good reason, but once they do so and solve a case, the person who gets sent to jail can have the government sued for invasion of privacy.

Again, they are neglecting our free rights if they think it's okay to listen in and invade our space.

Or maybe I'm just an idiot. XD

yea, i'm going to have to agree with you. i mean sure they may solve a case, but its a total invasion of privacy and just isn't right in my opinion

Same here. If it's going to save a life, it's fine. But if it's not that, I don't like it.

the more security you want the more privacy you have to give up (i think thats it). well if the person is a known terrorist or something like that then yeah, but if its just some random joe bloggs who they have some minute suspicion over then no not really.

Hell NO, my buisness is my buisness, and no one elses. Although I can see the reasoning, I don't believe in it at all. Why not start Big Brother in america.

No it's a matter of limited government. If you let them break this law their going to keep abridging your rights until we have a bad situation on our hands.

ONLY if someone is doing something wrong. Like if they're smuggling or something....but really, if they're good and not doing anything wrong..then HELL NO!!! That would be the people's own buissness..and nobody elses.

I think its a case of the 4th, 9th, and 10th amendments. Constitutionally speaking its not allowed...
    But:
If theres probable cause, then go ahead. If theyre being nosy, then no way.

  11. Hmmm, I'm not sure.

    Pros:

It could help the govermnent/police/ whoever else to stop anything dangerous.illegal happening. They could even find out about terorist organization..?

    Cons:

They are invading peoples private space
    It could lead to blackmail.
It may lead to civil disputes..?

I'm not sure whether they should do it. I'm leaning towards the answer of yes but, its still invading other peoples lives that the government has no right to invade.
