I was thinking this after I fixed my wooden blinds to give a less eriee looking light in my living room.

I think yes because when I entered my living room this morning it felt really off putting.

I think it has a little affect. Like in the morning, I get ready for school in the dark. It calms me down for some reason. Also things like rain and temperature can affect mood as well.

Yeah, I'm always a bit more depressed during the winter time, when it's dark when you go to school, and dark when you get back...
And I first read the tittle as "Does lightning change...'

Yeah it does. for example, on a clear sunny day, I am usually really happy because the sinlight makes everything their true colour, however, when it's a gloomy overcast yet still bright day, everything looks gloomy and grey.

It depends on the person. The lighting could change someone's mood because the brain will recat different ways to it... Like if the lighting is loud but you're used to it, your brain might be startled to the noise and get the ardline(sp) pumping. And like clawtooth said there is the colors. Like people say rainy days make people grumpy/sad.

Yep. Ever heard of the Winter Blues? Basically like J.D. said, when winter time rolls around, the nights get longer, day is shorter, and it so cold outside you probably don't step outside for a good amount of time.

So the reason you feel so sluggish is the lack of sunlight. Part of it is also because we as humans get a good portion of vitamin D from sunlight, and because of how the weather changes in winter we get very little of it. Vitamin D can give you energy, so a lack thereof makes you sluggish and mopy.

They've made "artificial sunlight" lamps to try and fool your body into thinking you're outside because it's almost as bright as sunlight. They actually do help quite a bit; I have a floor lamp that I drag out every February for that exact reason.

Absolutely. On gloomy days, I just feel so miserable, bored, and stuff. But on sunny days, I feel so much more cheerful.

You realise i'm not an idiot, I didn't need theories of the basics of influence, jesus. I was wondering if light would effect people in different situations so thats why I asked, not because I didn't know if light was effectable.

It's not just lighting, but weather. I feel depressed when it's foggy, and gray, and rainy. I actually did get sick once because it was raining. But I feel like a little school girl when it's sunny.

No it cannot. That would be your brain adjusting to the lighting of your surrounding area. (Studying the brain.)

I would have to say yes. I guess when the light filters into the pupil, your brain picks that up as life and relates it to an experience or knowledge that you were taught in school. For example on dark over cast mornings, my mood is more depressed and I don't have as much energy as I would if it were bright out.

I guess it would. But I also think weather would also change someone's mood.Like for some reason when it's clear skies, hot and sunny,I feel like I'm in a gloomy mood. But when its cloudy, cold, and raining,I feel pretty warm inside and happy.

Yeah, lighting can affect the mood as well as considerable drops in temperature. It is why in winter there are more people that are clinically found to be depressed and also suicide rates are up. The days become shorter and there is less sunlight out. It's also why in winter there are festive holidays and sports in quite a few cultures so that people have things to do to cheer them up during the days that are shorter. There are lights out now that can mimic sunlight which people are advised to buy though they can be costly if they do find themselves more negative or exhausted etc in the winter months. It's a pretty solid fact that decreased light as well as length of light can be a downer to many people, even if they enjoy night time more.

Me too, when I turn my bedroom light on in the morning it makes me uneasy and restless, but... when I'm scared I like the light, so I guess light may affect the mood kind of.... but...
Mood is mostly a personal choice, you can be in a bad mood or a good mood and it's all up to you

I read lightning too, lol :P

I think in some ways, it can. When it is darker, I tend to like to do nothing... just sit at a computer, watch TV, listen to music, just relax and kinda sleep a little. It calms me down when it's darker (especially at night, with the sky).

If it's brighter I want to do more and go out, and hang with people. I tend to be a lot more active.

It's mostly because that's how I've always lived my life. I've always slept at night so that's the best time to settle down. The day is easier to move around 'cause I can actually see. XD
