Does having a friend with your name affect your friendship with them?

Sorry for the extensive title, but I was wondering if anyone had a friend with the same name as you and if it influenced your relationship with them. Was having the same the reason that one of you started a conversation? Is it kind of akward that you have a friend with the same name, or does it bring you closer together?

I have a really uncommon name, so I've only known one person in all the thirteen years of my life that had my name. We were kinda friends, but having the same name was really, er, akward for me. I don't know why, but...

So I'd like to know if anyone else has a friend with their name and if it influences your friendship.​

 

My name is very common for girls so meeting someone with the same name doesn't really affect my relationship with them.

Even if I had an uncommon name and met someone with the same name, I don't think it would really affect the relationship. To me, a name really has nothing to do with a relationship. A name shouldn't matter.

I'm friends with a person with the same name as me. It doesn't really affect our friendship. Although we barely see eachother nowadays, since he lives in a different state.

 

Yeah, my friend lives in another state, now, too. :P Everyone feels a little different, and I guess a lot of people it doesn't affect. My best friend asked me this question, and I couldn't really base it on just myself. So, that's why I was wondering.​

 

My friend and I..Both our names are Haley and we've been friends since first grade.and we never have fights.

 

I have a friend with the same name as me. It felt a little weird at first but I wouldn't say it actually affects our friendship all that much.

 

I have 3 friends with the same name as me, thought Emily is a very common name, but it doesn't really affect our friendship.
We just call each other by our last names.

 

I have a friend with the same name as me only spelled different... We call each other 1 & 2...

My name is really common, but I don't have any close friends with the same name, just because we're so different. I don't really think the name makes a difference. Sure, it gives you something to laugh about, but I don't think it would really affect the relationship.

 

I have known several other girls with my name, but never one who spells it like I do xD

Hmm I have been friends with some of them xD and not friends with others >_>

To be honest, having the same name has never really had an affect, except for when I was 6 and there were 4 of us in the same class and we used to get put together all the time :\

Other than that, I think that if you are friends with someone who has the same name, it generally only seems odd to other people. From my experience anyway :3​

 

i have 2 friends with the same name as me its not really fun ether because when they come over my mom says brandon and we both are what..............

 

I have a friend with my name :P And its never been a problem. Its actually helped us a lot...
But now since she changed we arent friends anymore. But thats not because of our names, at times though, it would be nice if my name wasnt so common -.-

 

i'm still their friend but i secretly hate having the same name, because i am referred to as "the other mike" when my friend mike is with me.

I've never met anyone with the name Miele' before so I don't really know what it's like...
but i'm sure you could still be friends with some one with the same name as you ^-^

 

I've meet only a few people with same name as me . Its not bad having the same . We just came up with nicknames so we can tell who they're addressing to and such . But other than that it didn't really affect our relationship and it probably shouldn't .

 

Iv'e only ever known one person with the same name as me... but we didn't become friends.

My name's really old fashioned so not many people have it.
