Video Does anyone know how to extract FMV from KH:BBS?

I am particularly interested in the pre-intro and the intro movie of kingdom hearts birth by sleep USA version. :)

Why don't you look for it in the Cut-scene archive?

It may be there, using that would be 1000 times less tedious than extracting it yourself from the Game.

You can download lossless rips of the intro and opening here and here.

If you still want to extract them yourself, BBS's FMV files are stored on the UMD as PMFs within DAT files. If you can manage to copy the UMD disc to your computer's hard drive, the FMVs can be easily extracted using UMDGen and this tool.

To demux the resulting PMF files and decode the audio requires fiddling with the command-line with a few other programs, which include Sonic Stage, HIMDRenderer, and PMF[Video][Audio]Dumpers. Here's a link to a good guide.

 

Thanks to all who replied to my post. I managed to rip off my copy of the stuff. You can check them out in my channel by clicking my Sig. I haven't figure out how to rip Aqua's ending so what I did was record it through Remote joy lite + Fraps with subtitles disabled using cwcheat. This is how Aqua's ending turns out:

Also, there are other bunch of FMVs in my channel in HD if you guys want to check them out! Getting the stuff from PMF took off a day for me but it was well rewarding in the end. Thanks Crisp for giving me the idea of PMFs. :D

 

I'm glad that you have been able to rip the FMVs. I believe that Aqua's ending was changed from a FMV in the Japanese version to being rendered in real-time in subsequent releases.

 

No, Aqua's ending can be extracted as well, I've done it. =]
If I remember correctly, I got probably around 10 PMFs from the ISO. Using most of the methods I found, the files would be corrupted when I converted them to a playable format, Aqua's Ending being one of them. I can't recall exactly what tool I used in the end--I think maybe PMF2MP4 (which I can upload, if you'd like)--but it's in there & it's possible.

It was like a year+ ago by now, but I believe I scanned the IMG file from the ISO with ISOtoPMF.

Edit: Oh, and just to note, I was working off of the Japanese version of BBS. Aqua's Ending may not be pre-rendered in the English version, for some reason.
