Does anyone else feel SE stretched the KH series too far?

I wouldn't say it's stretched too far, but some games could have been tied in together. I'm just thankful the story is moving forward.
    The first 10 years of Final Fantasy also had 7 games released (FF1 - 1987, FF7 - 1997)

Maybe. Days was good, but not necessary, and Re:Coded was... Well...
But Birth by Sleep was fantastic, and my favorite game in the entire series, and DDD was really great as well, as well as both being important in setting up a foundation for Kingdom Hearts 3.

I have spoken to people though, that say they love Kingdom Hearts, but hate the spinoffs and just want the next numbered title. I think all of the handhelds are a turnoff to the series for some, no matter how good they may be. I think the main problem is the vast amount of systems all of the games are on. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to try and buy a system just for one game.

Yes, definitely. Though this is coming from a person who thought Chain of Memories was already a bit much. I don't really care for birth by sleep, though I can respect 382/2 days. (The plot was still a bit silly, however) I think Dream Drop Distance is probably the best 'in between' KH - KH3 game.

I think they could have done without Re: Coded and Days, but otherwise I don't think it's been stretched on too much. I just hope they don't have any other spin-offs planned (I know 3D wasn't a spin-off. I wasn't referring to it when I said that.), or else it'll really be getting ridiculous.

Without question, there are games in the series that could've been completely removed, however SE has done a decent job of keeping the main number titles and the sub titles separate, in the sense that you can play KH1 and then KH2 just fine with nothing else, or you could play C.O.M and then BBS and be fine, because they're linked like that.

So yes and no, they've done a decent job stretching so far though.

Wow what happen to everyone getting all excited about Recoded? Recoded was a pretty important game. It's mentioned alot in DDD. Plus Recoded was actually made to prove something important. Yes the story is stretch too far. Days was made to show the past of roxas. I think what Nomura should have done was make the game IN THEIR CHRONICLE ORDER. That is the main reason why people are being fed up with the series. Although it seems like kh1 never mattered in the series because it has never been mentioned in any other game

Ok, I'm going to put my 2 cents into this. No, its not been streched out to long at all. While I totally get the complaints about multiple systems, each game was important. Days ESPECIALLY so and let me explain why.

First off, it gave alot more information into what Roxas went through and more into Axel's reasons for going after him as much as he did to the point of betraying the Organization. Second, it explained the reason behind the differences between Lea and Isa. If you played every game except days, you'd be REALLY confused as to why that rivalry was there. They were great friends in BBS and now they hate each other. The treatment of Xion is sure to come up in their conversations and No, I don't believe that everyone just forgot about her. Just everyone with a direct connection to Sora. Lea, Isa and the rest of the organization did not have that and as I recall there was a scence after her death where Saix warps into the throne room and informs Xemnas that she was no more. That implies they remember her. That is just way to much to put into cutscenes.

As for Coded...without it, Pete and Maleficent would have no goal in 3D and the future. It also reminded Mickey that Ventus and Aqua were still out there waiting to be rescued. I believe I can say that people would've been very confused about a cutscence talking about a digital world that we never went to. Trust me when I say people would be complaining loudly about that random bit of infomation.

Definitely not imo. Every game except for mobile, vcast etc. are important to the story and build up on it. inb4Re:codedispointlessthough
Without things like BBS and Chain of memories you wouldn't understand half of the story of kh.
As for money, every company likes money so making games to build backstory while we wait for the kh team to finish with Versus is a good thing imo.

I personally do not feel that it is stretched out too far, but I feel like because they didn't know how successful it would be, they are slowly starting to add more to the story that wasn't originally there, and it is slowly but surely starting to contradict some of it's own facts(granted at the same time, they address changes often so this isn't very often)

At least they are staying on the same timeline, and not making games that take place thousands of years away from KH1 and KH2

No game is a waste at least.
    (Except of recoded maybe).
Every sidegame is important for the whole story of KH and I'm interessted in all the plots and different characters. That's why I love KH.

I completely sgree with you that is yhe reason why i love Kh aswel

You may say it has been streched far but if you think of it guys t if they had ended the series and at kh2 it would jave not been the serirs it is today and aiight if you wanted i direct sequel you would have been more confused than ever. If for instance it ended at kh 2 without amy back story it would have left us wit more question than we have now on certain things like Who is ansem anf why do we call him xehanort? Who is diz? Why was riku the true chosen of the keyblade? So many thaf it would have left us unsatisfied with the series as a whole. But you see not only the side games explain some unanswered questions it also gets us attacjed to the characters. 358 days WAS relevant to the lt and it gave us insight ob what pusehd roxas to leave the org. And come in people having a convoluted storylone is fun to think about whdn in other games out there there is always the typical boring storyline that become repetitive.

This is basically how I view the series in a nutshell. Imagine the disembodied voice is... Square Enix, or something. I dunno.

KHI: "Hey, check this out! Made it myself. Stayed up all night, but it was worth the trouble. Beautiful, ain't it?"

CoM: "Oh, this is just a little side project. Thought I'd tie it into the last one, make it kind of an ongoing thing, y'know? Just something to pass the time."

KHII: "Yeah, I tried to make another one and, well... Yikes. Kinda lost my train of thought, I guess. Might salvage some of this and put it to better use."

Days: "Ok! I like this one, it turned out better. Still rough around the edges but it's got a lot of heart, and... Uh... Hello? Where did everybody go?"

Coded: "I mean, I wanted to expand on the original a bit more, but I'm kind of running short on ideas."

BbS: "Yeah no honestly this is just getting out of hand, maybe I should stop"

KH3D: "NOPE! NOPE. EVERYTHING'S FINE. I GOT IT. I FIGURED IT OUT."

After the mess that was KHII, everything kind of exploded all over the place. But 3D finally picked up all the pieces and made them fit together, roughly.

Nah, I don't think so. I feel that every game is important to the storyline. Coded..... Well.....

But anyways, There are times where I think that Days is not that important at all. But is shows one of the reasons why Roxas left the Organization. BbS is fantastic, so is KH3D. But the time travel thing kinda stretched it too far.

    *would've

Not to be a dick, but this is just a pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, has SE stretched the KH series too much? Not at all.

The only two games that are arguably disposable in the whole KH series are Days and Re:Coded. And I will go far enough to say that Days was a necessary game. Why? Because it was a fan-service game.

I mean come on. Playing as ANY Org. XIII member you want? AND multiplayer co-op? A dream come true. So, where does it fail and make you feel like it's filler? The lack of exposure of the Organization, the lack of explanation of their back stories, the lack of interaction with other Org. XIII members and just inserting an unnecessary character like Xion in the plot when she had little to no importance on the overall plot.

But besides all of that, Days was a great addition to the roster of KH games.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I liked Days. His whole leaving scene seemed really generic in KHII, and it was nice to put some feeling behind that.

With regards to the time travel, there are two things I'm thankful for:

    (1) Because of the way he claims it works, Xehanort can no longer use it.
    (2) He was following a strict set of guidelines as to how he affected the timeline. He couldn't just change whatever he wanted.

Establishing those two allows him to be a looming presence in the entirety of the series, without raising the question of why he hasn't already won if he has this immense power at his disposal. He wasn't really aiming to win, just to set events in motion that would yield the desired result. Maybe there were variables, such as which characters would become the seekers of darkness, but there was never a chance for him to drastically alter the outcome of the series thus far. Not only can he not just appear on the Destiny Islands and end the heroes' lives, he doesn't want to; he needs them for the final battle, otherwise he can't get what he wants. It's a nice way to make him intimidating without undermining the efforts of the rest of the cast, and it shows at least some amount of forethought, for which I'm thankful.
