My throat has pactically been on fire for like a week and a half and panadol and other pain soothing drugs aren't working. I'm gonna try see a doctor tommorrow, but In the 9 years I've been in Australia (I'm 16 this year so yeah) I've been to the Doctors like 4 times and I hate seeing them, because I'm scared of bloodtests and stuff. It's been hard to swallow food and drinks, and since my mouth keeps filling up with saliva.. I have to keep swallowing and that hurts even more.

I don't know what to do, and It can't be the whole 'Adam's Apple' thing because I'm a girl - so don't pull that one on me lol

    haha nah
you have a normal strep throat more than likely

what the doctor normally will do is get a pop sicle (however you spell it) stick and put it down your throat for like 2 seconds and then thats it. they'll give you a special medicine
(thats what they do to me)

Just go to the doctor's and get it over with.
When you feel all better it's gonna be worth it.

You might even find you're not scared of doctores anymore.

Cancer? At 15? Highly doubt it.

They're called tongue depressors. And you should be glad that you can see the doctor while you're young. Because once you hit a certain age, you're going to have to start paying for it out of your own pocket which means you'll need to find a job that has medical and dental benefits.

Anyway, no need to be scared. If you have strep throat, you'll most likely be given the right medicine to use. All they do is use the tongue depressor so they can see the back of your throat. Usually it'll be red or your tonsils will be inflamed. After that, it's pretty much straight routine.

And what's with the "Adam's Apple" thing? Girls don't have those...unless they had a sex change from a male.

actually, girls do have adams apples, it is just more prominent in a male.

Docters are fine, they have to sware an oath of cofidentiality so they can't talk about you to anyone else.

I had bronchitis last week; lozenges just hurt my throat even more. I just slept a lot, drank a lot of Vitamin C, didn't eat.
I also had the flu earlier, which contributed symptoms very similar to strep; from what I've heard, many people are suffering from the same strain, so it's very likely you just have symptoms of influenza. Do you have like, a slight sort of rash or anything? A fever is another obvious symptom.
But seriously, I doubt it's anything to be concerned about. Everyone is getting sick.

Sounds more like Post Nasal Drip to me. It lasts for a week or two and it makes swallowing and waking up in the morning a nightmare. Drink tea with honey and lemon, and constantly use cough drops. There's really not much you can do about it. It goes away on it's own, but the above things should help ease the swelling and it won't hurt as much. -Always- go to a doctor regardless of what you think it is, though. Better safe than sorry.

    Aww

    Hun don't worry

it sounds like what I had

    Strep throat

More than likely, you'll get like 6 different drugs for 10 days that you'll have to take every 6 hours

    OR

    get a pennasilian(sp?) shot

Its nothing to be scared about, getting a shot, becuase i was freaking out, but i didn't feel the needle in my hip becuase the hip has more fat than your arm, and it travels quicker. You'll feel the medicine, but not the needle if you decide this :3

Firstly, I'm srry to hear about what happened to you. All in all, I hope u'll get better soon.

Before I go off, I'm talking from a guy's perspective so some suggestions mite not b as helpful as others. Anyways, since ur case is a sore throat more or less, there's no particular reason for you to be afraid of the doctors. Like every1 else has said, he basically uses the tongue depressors and a flashlight to check the condition of ur throat. Depending on the condition, he'll tell u wat u should do next but in no way should it involve needles, surgery, bloodtesting, or 50 pushups. (k...i made the last 1 up) Also, it's definately best for you to go immediately. Eating too much panatol and other medicine can turn on you at a certain point and possibly make ur condition worst one way or another. It's best to consult a doctor rather than going on by urself.

Anyways, I hope this helps and again, get well soon.
