Here to share another kick ass fan made opening:

I actually quite prefer this one to the current--imo it lacked a lot of the punch/excitement of others.

I still hate the font used for the actors' names.

I'm both expecting and hoping that Peter Capaldi gets the role. He seems like he'd be a fantastic Doctor, and a lot of people seem to be betting on him right now. Huffington Post even wrote an entire article about him days ago and about how he seems the most likely candidate.

I have a confession you guys...

I didn't tell anyone because I didn't want to cause problems, but...
As the next actor needs to be younger, I was cast as him

    Lolno

I seriously look forward to whoever is the new Doctor!

    Although I'll miss Matt ;-;

I am very excited about this and cutting a day out with friends a bit short so I can watch it xD

I like the idea of Peter Capaldi but it still rubs me the wrong way when someone who has already been on the show is cast as the main (I know they did it with Colin Baker but even that irked me even if they did explain it in some way which I can't remember...). I also doubt most of you have seen "The tick of it" which is something quite prominent over here and something he is quite famous for even if he plays an angry Scottish man that swears a lot xD so it can be hard to see him in the place of the Doctor. Having said that, I think he'd be marvelous and would be happy to see him in the part as he is an exceptional actor.

I think this happened before they announced Smith, I mean betting for him went up at the last minute which may be a sign about Capaldi? No idea though and I recon they have known for ages who the Doctor is (Smith knew 4 months before they announced it and he could tell people).

I'm really excited and really hesitant about this. I'm confident that whoever was chosen will win me over in the span of, like, half an hour on camera, but the thought of anyone other than Matt Smith wearing the bowtie and coat freaks me out a bit. I really don't know much about Capaldi's career so I can't bet for or against him, but here's hoping the live announcement won't disappoint.

It's funny how he was the top choice, I kind of felt like it was going to be him before Zoe Ball announced the name! I am about ready to go stalk him and his career out!

I think it's quite good that we have an older Doctor as it makes a change. The new Doctors have been large sex icons to the teenage fanbase (myself included and I'm not saying it's a bad thing) but it would just be a nice change (/inb4thefanswhofancy12) and I can see him putting a dark spin on the role. I can also see him more like the 10th Doctor than 11th as he does have more of a 10 vibe but I do hope he plays it differently as I have no doubt in his ability as an actor, from what I have seen he is amazing. Even just going to watch "The fires of Pompeii" again to see that.

It amuses me that we have yet another Scottish actor forced to put on an English accent for the part.

Just heard the news. I have to be honest, I'm not too familiar with Peter Capaldi's career. Nevertheless, he seems like a great actor, and I welcome him with open arms to the show. Hello Number 12!

While I'm unfamiliar with Capaldi's previous work, I do think that having someone who appreciates the show in the lead role is a great thing. I'm glad that another long time Whovian is getting their chance to shine, and I'm looking forward to seeing if he can deliver as the Doctor.

I'm very positive about Capaldi! I of course heard the rumors of him beforehand and while I'm not familiar with his work, from just the pictures of him I thought he was very well-suited to the role.

I am disappointed to hear that some people are on him for his age (though it's not unexpected). Matt Smith got similar flack and I think he absolutely delivered, he brought a lot to the role, so I have no doubt that Capaldi will as well. We also haven't yet seen him in his Doctor garb/styling, which may offer a new take on him. Those who have reservations about him should at least give him a fair chance.

I know I have my doubts, but honestly I've learned to ignore them till I see the character fully blossom in the first episode. When Tennant came on I was upset, but I grew to love him. When Smith came on I was upset, but I grew to love him. Doctor Who has always delivered and I'm not going to point out things that aren't appealing to me right now from stoping me.

I'm just feeling bad for all of those people who totally dived to the deep end on hating Capaldi, saying they'll never watch Doctor Who again, and then to see them come back with their tails between their legs and enjoy everything about him.

    Kinda reminds me of this:

Anyway, as far as this whole age thing, have people even forgotten that the Doctor is 1000 years old? Personally, I like the fact that he'll be older. That may give me a bit of a nostalgic feel, as it would feel similar to Eccleston's time, when the Doctor felt more like an uncle figure.

The one thing that annoys me are Whovians who are moaning that he isn't "young, hip and 'good looking'" which is basically rubbish as he's not supposed to be like that! He is the Doctor and he saves the world!

A new actor gets the part of the Doctor, he's either too young, too old, too unknown, too well known, not Doctor-ish enough or whatever else there may be! Not everyone will be happy I guess but this show is about change and, from what I've seen, most of the changes have been amazing and really put a new spin on the show plus we shouldn't judge until we see what he can do in the part. I did see one comment that was like "this is ridiculous! What's Moffat playing at? The Doctor is supposed to be getting younger as he gets older!" which is rubbish to start with, Davison was younger than his successors and McGann was younger than Eccleston (I think...) and that, again, isn't the point of the character. It does make sense actually to go older so then they can get younger again if they choose, but I do't think age should really be a factor.

I have been watching a lot of his other stuff including The Thick of it (which is rather funny even if it involves an awful lot of swearing xD) and rewatching Skins (epic series... but again, lots of swearing).

Man, I'm super excited to see what happens with the new Doctor. I... actually haven't seen Capaldi in anything other than Fires of Pompei, but man, when I saw his picture on the Doctor Who facebook page, I was like "YES!" He looks so cool and Doctor-y. I'm very sad that Matt Smith will be leaving, as he is currently my Doctor and bow ties are very cool. But I can't wait to see the new era with the new Doctor, and let me tell you, I am so excited for this! :D

Not to mention, this will be the first time I see a regeneration along with the rest of the world (Well, a day later, I have to stream it from a different site, but still). When I first started watching Doctor Who, Matt Smith was already well established as the Doctor, and so when the others regenerated, I didn't have to sit and stew about their deaths, I was able to feverishly press the button to watch the next episode.

OMG, I'm gonna cry when Matt Smith dies, I already know it.

Personally I think he's rather good looking, ha. There's something quirky about his look but I think that fits the role beautifully.

It's just all quite silly. And really, if you watch the show and truly hate Capaldi, it's not like Doctor Who is dead to you. That's the beautiful thing about the show. If one Doctor just doesn't click with you, another Doctor will, eventually, replace him (albeit in a few years, more than likely).

Peter Capaldi, huh? Never heard of him, but I have a gut feeling that he'll make a great Doctor, the 12th Doctor exactly.
