Really? I dunno man I like 3D. Sure it's the primitive red/cyan form but it's still amusing to look at.

Prequel to The Bells of Saint John was just released:

I think that is only a rumor. I won't believe anything unless it's OFFICIALLY confirmed by the BBC.

Wasn't there an announcement saying he'd be back for series 8? But then again I have no source to back me up so...
I personally don't think so though.
There's too much going on, with Clara's mystery, and The Fields of Trenzalore plots, plus the 50th anniversary stuff. Too much to wrap up in 3/4 of a year.

It is a rumor. And from what I understand, The Sun is not the most reliable news source. Matt said that he's just taking it a bit at a time; that doesn't mean he's about to leave. Also, all Moffat said in his EW interview was that he thinks he's closer to the end of his run than the beginning.

    gafdfshgfdhgfjg that prequel tho ; u ;

It is a rumour you're all right xD I was getting carried away... don't mind me!

Yeah I saw that on TV yesterday and squealed quite a lot. I am really liking the idea of aliens in the wi-fi because it is quite a common scare nowadays that people can see what we're doing on the computer and even hack into it and control what we do as well as stealing passwords and stuff. I am very excited about the Clara mystery and interested in how much she will remember or feel associated with. She is obviously the same character in three different time zones but she didn't recall the Doctor as the barmaid and in the trailer the Doctor says "Don't you remember?" so she won't remember that much. However, in the Snowmen I think there are things are leaking through like the whole "Pond" incident seems a bit far fetched if she didn't have some inkling about Amy and Rory. You would never choose the word Pond for such a question in such a desperate time unless she had some feeling on some unconscious level that it would affect the Doctor. Even if it was just a spontaneous "This word feels right" kind of thing.

Also, the prequel made me very happy! It kind of reminds me of the meeting-Amy-as-a-child thing from series 5 but of course it won't play such a big part in the story as it did for the Ponds. How will the Doctor find Clara properly xD I am very excited.

I cannot wait for next weekend!

Agreed, I like the relevance of the plot! In fact I'm liking what I'm seeing in terms of enemies, they got really creative with this half season. The Rings of Akhaten's antagonist (or whatever that giant scary red face was) has piqued my interest, especially since Jenna says it's her favourite episode~ Yeah, wasn't present day Clara saying 'run you clever boy' in the trailer? I suppose things leak between the three Claras, yeah good observation. Shame she won't remember half the inside jokes they've already got though XD

Still kinda mourning the Ponds coz I just caught up a few days ago, but I'm totes excited. Heck even without the fact that this is Doctor Who, and all the amazing stories Jenna's dimples are enough reason to be excited.

I don't think this is such a terrible thing. Sure it'll take time but I don't want them to rush this. A lot of work goes into making the show and they won't be filming the Xmas episode until Sep 2013 at the earliest so I doubt series 8 will be ready for a while. I can be patient if it means we get a better show. Fans spend a lot of time complaining about the gap and the split series but I don't think it's as bad as they say- it builds suspense, allows a smoother production and spreads the series more over the year. Sure it is aggravating but I don#t think it's terrible.

I'm more sad about Moffat's departure, I mean he could still be there for 2/3 years yet as he hasn't confirmed anything but I'm sure he'll leave it in capable hands. I have come to trust Moffat's judgement most of the time for the people he casts and the story lines and characterisation so I'm sure he'll choose someone fit for the job. I would say Mark Gatiss as he is as big a DW fan as Moffat and they seem to be quite close but it could be someone else really. An extraordinary amount of work goes into governing this show (plus Moffat has Sherlock) and it amazes me how he manages it but I hope he stays for a bit longer. I also hope he doesn't leave at the same time as Matt as I would like to see how different people write for the show and the Eleventh Doctor or how Matt takes other showrunners writing.

If Moffat leaves then I'll be happy. Never liked the direction he took the show since Series 5. But I guess I'll give him credit for making Series 7 awesome.

Oh noes!! You don't like Moffat? I actually thought that he did an excellent job. I know about the time he came into the picture, it went from "kinda alright" to "ohmygosh this is amazing!!!" When Moffat took over, there were more plot oriented directions in the show. If you'll notice, almost everything that happens in the show happens for a reason. It all builds up and comes together in the end. That's what I like about the show.

If you think about the episode, "The Doctors Wife" then think back to the episode where River regenerates into her most known form, there's a connection. Not only that, but so many other things build up and come together in a way that, in my opinion, only Moffat could produce.

I think Moffat is the mad genius behind the mad man with a box.

Yes, sorry to disappoint you, but I am no fan of Moffat as the showrunner. I was disappointed so many times in Series 5 and 6 (with the exception of a FEW episodes). Which was a shame because I think Matt Smith is a fine actor (but he can never replace David Tennant for me). However, as I've said, I think he finally got things right with Series 7. I feel as a showrunner he works better when having these movie-style episodes rather then episodes with heavy concentrations on an arc.

Eleven's my doctor, and therefore Moffat's my guy. I loved the previous set (by which I mean 9 and 10) but there's something in the way Doctor Who was err, re-branded as Moffat took over. The overall feel of the show changed, there were more tracks that were memorable and fit their parts perfectly, (Amy in the TARDIS, I am the Doctor, Doctor Who XI) and of course the writing and progression of each of the series. The overarching story is established at the start, more or less
    (cracks, Silence, Clara),
and of course, he brought us River and the Ponds (and Clara)

If there's one thing I don't like about what he did, it's how there's virtually no connection to the previous run. Sure it makes for an easy way to get into Doctor Who - as I did - but a lot of elements/characters from the previous stories that are still around like Captain Jack, Martha, mentions of the Time War, or even any mention at all of the previous companions weren't squeezed in at all. Maybe it's part of Eleven's character that he's turned his back on all those things, but it would have helped to have a little more connection to Ten.

THIS is why I did not like Series 5 and 6. I didn't feel like I was watching the same show anymore. While I disagree with you on the music being more memorable (I personally think I Am The Doctor is such an overrated track), I could've easily ignored that as long as I could still enjoy the new direction. But no, this wasn't the show I fell in love with when I started with Series 1. I still have a hard time believing the 11th Doctor is the same man as 9 and 10, no matter how good Matt Smith is with the role. But, Series 7 is a series I think Moffat is doing well on. No more arcs. Just episodes with independent stories that it doesn't bother me that there are no references to past episodes. But I am expecting the 50th to finally address my issues with Series 5 and 6 and actually have references to Series 1-4. And that is the end of my rant.

I see your point Roxam. I think both writers are very good and differ greatly, I found RTD to be more focused on the companion side and their emotions in a sense rather than the story. An arc ran through a series and there were references between series but not great ones like Moffat does. I find Moffat's use of references to previous episodes within the series as well as previous series (e.g. Flesh and Stone- River is in prison for killing a man which is done in series 6) AND old Who is just brilliant. He joins them together as well as creating these interesting story arcs that branch over a few series (The Silence one is still going, I'm hoping for a good end to that one but I guess that comes with Eleven's regeneration).

I find Moffat's ideas to be exciting and things that I never thought of, RTD was the same to an extent but I had less "OASHKJHA That was brilliant!" moments. However, RTD was the one that brought it back from the depths of TV and did a fantastic job so I praise both but I just prefer the way Moffat is conducting things.

I guess that's where I stand. When I started watching DW, it was the characters that really drew me in. RTD's era made me care for the characters, even if they weren't anywhere near the top on my list (like Martha). Moffat in Series 5 and 6 however... didn't do that for me unfortunately. I'm sure Moffat has some great ideas. He wrote some awesome episodes when RTD was showrunner. But I just wasn't satisfied by how his ideas were executed when he became showrunner. Matt Smith is a great actor, but it is very hard for me to view him as the same man who had 10 different incarnations. It's not Smith's fault, but just something I blame the writer for, hence Moffat. Plus, I was annoyed that the events of Series 1-4 were ignored, after investing so many hours into them! It was like a middle finger from Moffat to me! Series 5 was supposed to be a continuation, not a reboot. Of course, there was River Song... I really liked her in Series 4 (in which she appeared in episodes written by Moffat himself). But when she first appeared in Series 5, The Doctor just looked at her as though she was just a random person. I literally screamed "WTF"! I mean, after begging the woman to not sacrifice herself (despite only meeting her once), and watching her die, he finally sees her again, alive, and acts normal... I was seriously hoping for some emotion there, but no. And for that reason, I say RTD was the better guy to run the show (this article pretty much sums up my thoughts: http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/why-the-russell-t-davies-era-worked-45051.htm) But I do feel Moffat is redeeming himself with Series 7. Throwing away the arcs, having episodes with independent stories, I feel there's a lot more characterization now, and I actually care about the characters for once (I doubt I would've loved Rory's dad as much as I did had he been handled the way Moffat handled Series 5 and 6).
