This is for those who already know all about the game through walkthroughs, playing it to the end, etc. Do you really think Xion was all that important to the story of Kingdom Hearts? Because I can see how you can just do without her. If she wasn't there, KH wouldn't be all that different.
    So what do you think?

I think her only real significance is that she made her, Axel, and Roxas a team, sort of like Sora, Riku, and Kairi, or Ven, Terra, and Aqua.

Otherwise, she had no real significance.

Personally, I think it would've been fine without her. I mean, the whole plot in the game 358/2 days where it either comes down to Roxas or Xion is fine, but if you've already played KH2 (Or looked at the cover for the game..) you know that Roxas is the one who comes out of the fight. On top of that, he doesn't even end up remembering her... So she doesn't even continue in the rest of the storyline.

However, since she is most of the plot for the game 358/2 days, she sort of is needed. The game would probably be boring without her.

Maybe they just really needed a different storyline for the game xD.

As much as it pains me to say it, Xion is completely circumstantial. Given the fact that the game was released after KH2, she kind of had to be, or else there would've been inconsistencies.

That's not to say she wasn't an interesting character, or that she didn't contribute to the story. She just wasn't necessary at all. Really, I kind of like that about her. It's that auxiliary fluff that keeps me interested in a lot of series. I like that Kingdom Hearts is reaching that point where it's really branching out from the main plot and becoming the "KH universe," not just the "KH story."

    Xion...UGH!

OMG so like the first comment said: IF YOU PLAYED THE GAMES THROUGH AND THROUGH, XION DOESNT MATTER AT ALL. I really didnt like Xion and she, in my personal opinion, made things more confusing [a little] and emo-er. She wasnt any important figure to me. I already miss the OLD organization 13. THIRTEEN! not fourteen >.<!

Hmm, she's the behind the scenes reason Sora wasn't awakened sooner. If it wasn't for her Roxas wouldn't have fought Riku by Memories Skyscraper either; Roxas would just be in Twilight Town with nowhere to go, atleast until Axel came looking. Those are the main two things I suppose. She's certainly not as important to the story of the series as people like Xehanort, Sora, Ansem ect but she was more significant than a lot of other minor characters. I can see how the story could easily work without her but the same could be said of a lot of people.

Yea, that's true, I guess. But, those are very small reasons. I mean, besides the fact that Sora was awakened later. That didn't exactly do ANYTHING for the Organization, since Roxas ran away anyway.

I'd less of say that Xion made the story "emo-er" and I'd say Xion gave more purpose to the story. She gave Roxas a more concrete reason to run away from Organization, something more than "they're hiding things from me".

I dunno about you, but Roxas doesn't seem like a 'pursuit of knowledge' type of guy to me. Without Xion, I don't think he would have gone looking for Sora like he did.

Even though Xion is one of my favorite characters, I gotta admit she was only somewhat important to the story. We probably could've done without her, but she did make the story of 358/2 Days more interesting.

She really kinda was only important for answering questions like "how can Roxas duel wield?" or something like that. It did explain why Roxas abandoned the organization or why...yeah thats about it.

Well, I think that even without Xion, Roxas still would've run away from the Organization, or Riku would just fight him and win eventually. Roxas probably would've gone looking for Sora anyway, but that would be completely unnecessary if Riku found him first.

Xion didn't have a major impact on anyone besides Roxas, especially Riku. Xion and Riku's relationship, I think, really wasn't necessary at all. I don't know what Riku would've done without Xion, but I'm pretty sure the game would've stayed relatively the same.

Also, the Organization only needed one person to get Sora's memories: Roxas or Xion. Xion, I think, was more or less the "extra" in case Roxas failed.

Well, she confirmed a connection between Ventus and Sora when Xigbar saw her as Ven which would then lead to speculation and many theories among fans, such as ourselves. She also revealed Xemnas's plan to Roxas, which caused him to leave Org. XIII. She added plot to the game also. (unless you spoiled it for yourself, like me. :P) We also learned from her, indirectly, that there was not just one Replica, (Repliku) but an entire Replica PROGRAM. Explains how Roxas Dual-Wields, as well. Much, much more I could add.

I don't remember the actual day, but it happened when Axel, Xion, and Xigbar went on a mission to Wonderland.

Well, not a cutscene like when Xion dies. It doesn't have speaking. It's on day 353.

Well technically all that showed was that Braig saw Ven in the past. Xion appearing as Ven really had nothing to do with Ven and Sora's connection.
Xion is like a memory mirror casting the image of a people in the viewer's past. For that split second Xigbar was reminded of Ven and Xion changed accordingly. Xemnas saw her as a doll and Ven; Xigbar saw her as Ven: and Saix saw her as a doll.

    Well, you're half right:

Xion is made from Sora's leaked memories. If they have a connection to Sora, they see her as a few things. Roxas, being Sora's Nobody, and having a direct connection to him, saw her as Xion. Xigbar, and possibly Xemnas, saw her as Ventus. But wait. Ventus isn't Sora! So how would Xigbar and, maybe Xemnas see Ventus when looking at Xion? One answer: Ventus has a strong connection with Sora.

How do we know Xemnas saw her as Ventus?...
Also Xion may have connections to Aqua because they do look similar...

Axel also saw her as the female form of Xion. He isn't Sora's nobody. People were able to see her in this form becuase Sora had entered Castle Oblivion and lost his memories of Kairi. Xion then took this form as she absorbed the memories.
Because they both met and saw him in the past.
To someone who knew her well they saw her as the girl. To Saix who knew about her being a replica and saw her as nothing more he saw her as a doll. Xemnas and Xigbar who have had pasts of using or seeing keyblades saw her as Ven.
He does, no doubt about that. But Xion really didn't strengthen or hurt this connection.
