Do you think "Covert Hypnosis" is real?

Just what the title says. Do you think it's real? I don't really think so, because people have tried covert hypnosis with me, and I saw right through it. If you do think it's real, please support yourself.

 

I've never heard of it. What is it? I feel stupid asking this, but I honestly don't know.​

 

Covert hypnosis is basically hypnosis when the subject does not know he or she is being hypnotized.

 

Um...I don't think its real, but if someone has gone through it, I won't argue with them over it. They could believe it was happening to them, but I would think something else is happening to them.

 

No, I saw through it meaning it didn't work. They were trying to get me to buy something.

I might be wrong, but can't you only hypnotize the willing? If they are unwilling, they won't be hypnotized, right?
Meaning that this is untrue.

 

Well, see, the thing is, I don't think it's real because it doesn't really qualify as hypnosis.
For example, this is supposedly a "hypnotic" covert mind control pattern.

Another one is, "Stop, and think about what you're not thinking right now." which is supposed to confuse the mind so you can slip your commands in.
Do you think these are hypnotic patterns or just very persuasive statements.
