Kingdom Hearts II Do you think Axel should have sacraficed himself?

You know this is something I've been thinking about. The move cleared out the nobodies, sure. But they could've taken 'em! Sora beat 1,000 heartless, and Axel's Bad @$$ at fighting.
On the other hand Axel did it so Sora could get to Kairi faster. Sure he ran right past her and strait towards Riku, but Axels' intentions were good. Or was it to redeem himself? Hmmmm...

now that that is out of my system,it was to redeem himself,i know for a fact that they could have taken on those dusk,but they didn't have enough time so he killed himself to help and redeem

 

I think Axel did it for a couple reasons. One was to redeem himself and make things right. He realized that his scheme to make Sora into a Heartless to get Roxas back was wrong and Sora earned his respect. Even though he was almost probably sure Kairi could change him back to normal, it was a scheme he realized was wrong because Roxas was where he 'should' be. I also think that Axel realized he could also go to where he should be too at that point and wanted his own Heart back and was tired of being a Nobody. Xemnas made a comment in KH2:FM that Axel was always seeking his Heart, so it could be that Axel actually found a link to it at that point.

The sacrifice was one of the most moving scenes in KH2, and yeah, I believe he did it to redeem himself but also to get Sora to Kairi faster and all because it would have taken them sometime to get through all that there. He also had to open the way for Sora to go through. I'm not sure it was absolutely necessary but maybe to Axel it was necessary to move Sora, apologize to him and Kairi there and to go on to where he felt he truly belonged at that point.

I agree with what repliku said. But just to add on, he did it because Sora was his friend. Or, Sora made Axel feel like he was with Roxas again.

 

Sora could of taken them all. Poor axel did not have to kill himself.....

 

yeah you're right. and i think axel sacraficed himself for roxas and not for sora. for save roxas.....

 

See Axel was out to redeem himself. I can say that. But, after what I've read I can see there were probably many reasons. And I also noticed Axel died alot slower than the others. The others just poofed into thin air. Axel, however, didn't. I think mabey that was because he had alot to say, but mabey there was a different meening. Mabey it had to do with sacraficing himself, mabey he was just fighting to stay alive.

 

well he was clinging on to his life. He knew that he would die. Maybe he braced himself. I f you think about it, the other org members were too suprised when they got beat...Larxene didnt even realize she was fading away until she fell...

 

It was that action that made him so bad ass! Now that's a nobody with a heart.

 

He was sick,or incredibly weak,whatever.

He didn't have to die. I would've loved to have battled one-thousand Nobodies in the game. Axel, by his death, screwed the whole game up and made it less fun by destroying all of those nobodies. =/

 

I didn't want him to I could have fought millions of hours straight to keep him alive but alas the cut scene stopped me. but I think it was unavoidable

 

Yeah but if he didn't die then Riku probably wouldn't be you partner in TWTNW. But that would be awsome if Axel AND Riku were your partners in TWTNW.

 

i think, in the end, axel would have to be eliminated anyway, to get to xemnbas, remeber the room full of gravestones and you fight luxord and saix, that was sealed of unless all of them were dead or unable to fight, so yeah big problem.

 

I think Axel sacrificed himself because he WANTED to. He and Sora probably could have survived, but he wanted:

1. to help him get to Kairi faster. He probably felt bad for getting her involved.

2. To redeem himself. He did attack Roxas and Sora in the past.

3.And since you never know what could happen during a battle, Sora could have been killed. That would have been the equivelent of Roxas dying. Axel couldn't live with himself if that happened.

Those are my thoughts. Should he have sacrificed himself? It was his decision, we can't tell what motivated him to do what he did. So I refuse to answer the question.

 

Sora fought a thosand heartless, but these were dusks and they are alot tougher to defeat. Sora and the others could have ran away, but waited too long. Axel saved him for a number of reasons. ...

1. becasue he had already given up on the Organization when he realized that Xenmas had decided to sacrifice other members namely Demyx. Hense he was angry with Sora, but decided he didn't want to fight so he tried to manipulate Sora . Axel may have not been there, but it makes sense why Axel would give information about the keyblade and about Xemnas shortly after.

2. thought he was invincible and wanted to handle them on his own and didn't know that it cost him his life until it was too late.
Axel had already decided since he was seen as a traitor by the other Organization members that they would kill him so it would be better that they never did.

4. Make Sora felt guilty about Roxas

 

The main reason i think axel sacrificed himself is because that at the end, he said that sora made him feel the same way that he did with roxas, so he might have wanted to showoff and didn't know he would kill himself, or he would have killed himself because he was already a traitor to the Organization XII, so he would have died anyways, and just saving sora a bunch of trouble fighting the dusks.

Also, he needed to thank sora, and say sorry to him for taking kiari, and how much trouble the Organization gave him...

 

I know right,I would have loved to fight 1000 dusks.Use reversal and attack.

 

I think he did it so Sora could get to Kairi a lot quicker. I also think he did it as away to apologize to Sora in some way. I don't think he had to sacrifice himself, him and Sora could've easily taken those nobodies, but I think he did it as a way to apologize.
